                                        Ghazal 244


Persian:  Chun Turk e mast e mun aalooda e sharaab daraayad
              Zay shoar e o namakay dar dil e kabaab daraayad
Urdu:      Jo Turk e mast wo aalooda e sharaab aaya
              Tufail e shoar namak dar dil e kabaab aaya

English:=== My Turko girl, when she drinks some wine
                  Her lovely face, it becomes divine
                                              -

Persian:  Labat ager kushadam dar sawaal e boasa, natarsam
              Wa laik ghamza mabaada keh dar itaab daraayad
Urdu:      Sawaal e boasa e lab us say ger kiya maen nay
              Hazaar naaz say kernay ko wo itaab aaya

English:=== But when that face I want to kiss
                  She tells me no with an emphasis
                                                -

Persian:  Kaj ast teer e mizha, raast meezani ba dil e mun
              Keh teer e kaj chun ba aatish rasad, ba taab daraayad
Urdu:      Mizha ka teer hay kaj, mat isay chala dil per
              Keh teer e kaj jo ba aatish gaya, ba taab aaya

English:=== Her long eyelash is like a dart
                  It sets it on fire, my peaceful heart
                                                -

Persian:  Zay behr e deedan e Hindoostaan e zulf e to her shab
              Bia babeen keh zay sailaab e chashm aab daraayad
Urdu:      Ba yaad e kaakul e hindoo e yaar furqat maen
              Ba joash chashm ki Ganga maen sail e aab aaya

English:=== Her raven tress is like a snare
                  It catches my heart and keeps it there
                                                -

Persian:  Zay girya dar gham e rooyat ba chashm e KHUSRAV e baidil
              Na maand aab ager, boo keh khoon e naab daraayad
Urdu:      Shab e firaaq maen ronay say chashm e KHUSRO maen
              Raha na aab toe behnay ko khoon e naab aaya

English:=== And when she leaves, she makes me cry
                  And loves the blood I shed from my eye
