                                        Ghazal 251


Persian:  Sapeedadam keh jahaanay zay khaab bar khaizad
              Naqaab e shab zay rukh e aaftaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Subheh, subheh keh zamaana zay khaab uthhay hay
              Naqaab e shab zay rukh e aaftaab uthhay hay

English:=== The sun is burning the veil of night
                  And waking us all from a slumber tight
                                              -

Persian:  Zay baad e subheh keh bar auj e aasmaan guzarad
              Zay roo e shahid e mashriq naqaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Ba baad e subheh, jo bar auj e charkh jaay hay
              Zay roo e shaahid e mashriq naqaab uthhay hay

English:=== It is also telling the morning breeze
                  The tulips and roses to go and tease
                                              -

Persian:  Rawad ba raah e rihaavi rabaab e mutrib e subh
              Hareef e khufta zay baang e rabaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Nawa e mutrib e raqqaasa e falak sun ker
              Hareef e khufta ba baang e rabaab uthhay hay

English:=== The sky in the East is all on fire
                  While the dawn is coming, playing its lyre
                                              -

Persian:  Khush aan kasay keh nasheenad ba baada, waqt e sahar
              Namaaz e khuftan e mast o kharaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Jo chaahta hay keray noash subhehdam baada
              Uthay ager hay toe mast o kharaab thhay hay

English:=== So it's now time for the topers to rise
                  And go to the bar and to socialize
                                            -

Persian:  Kujaast saaqi e baidaarbakht o khaabaalood
              Keh behr e gardish e jaam e sharaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Kidhar hay saaqi e baidaarbakht o khaabaalood
              Jo behr e gardish e jaam e sharaab uthhay hay

English:=== And for the maids to rise and shine
                  And serve the topers with the morning wine
                                              -

Persian: Ba aaftaab bagooied bar niyaayad ta
            Zay khaab e khush malik e kaamyaab bar khaizad
Urdu:    Kaho maher say na niklay keh subhehdam jaldi
            Na khaab say malik e kaamyaab uthhay hay
     
English:=== For soon the king will also be up
                  And is going to ask for his golden cup
                                              -

Persian:  Kujaast KHUSRAV e shabzindadaasha keh ba subh
              Ba dast kerda dilay chu kabaab bar khaizad
Urdu:      Kabhee jo bazm maen jaata hay yaar ki KHUSRO
              Dil e hazeen ko bana ker kabaab uthhay hay

English:=== Then also will come our KHUSRO, the slob
                  Looking for his liquor and shish kabob
