                                  Ghazal 258


Persian:  Saba zay zulf e to booay ba aashqaan aawurd
              Naseen e aan ba tan e rafta baaz jaan aawurd
Urdu:      Naseem zulf ki boo jab ba aashiqaan laaie
              Tan e naheef maen phir daalnay ko jaan laaie

English:=== When brought the breeze the scent of her hair
                  All the broken hearts it did repair
                                            -

Persian:  Hazaar jaan sazad az muzhda ger ba baad dahand
              Keh nazd e dilshudagaan boo e dilsitaan aawurd       
Urdu:      Hazaar jaan e garaami fida e baad keh wo
              Baraay dilshudagaan boo e dilsitaan laaie

English:=== May God Almighty bless the breeze
                  For putting the hearts of her lovers at ease
                                            -

Persian:  Khabar zay cheen e sar e zulf mushkboo e to daad
              Saba chun az dil gumgashta am nishaan aawurd
Urdu:      Wo lay kay aaie khabar paich e zulf e mushkeen say
              Saba jo gumshuda dil ka meray nishaan laaie

English:=== But when it was playing with her curly hair
                    It saw my heart caught in a snare
                                              -

Persian:  Hazaar bosa labam zad zay shouq bar dahanam
              Az aan keh naam e dahaan e to bar zabaan aawurd
Urdu:      Diay laboun nay dahan ko hazaar bosay khud
              Zabaan jab bhee tera naam bar dahaan laaie

English:=== Oh, it was weeping, and chanting her name
                  And saying, for its plight it's only to blame
                                              -
             
Persian:  Ba shust e hijr e to bar jaan e baiqaraaram zad
              Her aan khadang keh ayaam dar kamaan aawurd
Urdu:      Chalaa'ay hijr nay maeray dil e hazeen per sab
              Bala kay teer jo taqdeer dar kamaan laaie

English:=== Without her, it said, it could not stay
                  So became it her captive right away
                                              -

Persian:  Kasay ba qurbat e to dast yaaft chu KHUSRO
              Keh roo soo e to walay pusht bar jahaan aawurd
Urdu:      Karay hay naaz bohat us namaaz per KHUSRO
              Jo roo soo e to walay pusht bar jahaan laaie

English:=== And, KHUSRO, now to her it prays
                  For she is the goddess, and her it obeys
                                              ====
