Joe sat transfixed by Mr Dursley’s words. He loved spending time at is friends house after school as everyday he sat in the living room listening to the fantastic tails of Magic and Magical Creatures that came from Mr. Dursley’s imagination.
‘Harry faced his arch enemy his wand raised ready for action.’ ‘That’s enough for today boys.’ Came Mrs Dursley’s voice breaking the boys out of their fantasy. ‘Its getting late Joe should be getting home.’ ***** Joe said bye to his friend and set off down the road towards his home just a few streets away. It was getting dark as he turned the corner. He looked down the road and then over to the alley that would cut a few minutes off the journey. Looking about he decided to take the short cut as he could see no one about. He felt safe. As he got halfway down the alley Joe heard noises. Looking about he could see no one. Then he felt something grab at him pulling him to the ground. Feeling sharp jabs to his ribs he closed his eyes and wished for it to stop. A second later he felt a cool breeze blow over his body. Realising that the attack had stopped and he could move he opened his eyes and looked around. There was no sign of his attacker in the alley, but he could see a commotion at its end. Seeing that the crowd was starting to move towards him Joe picked himself up turned back the way he came and ran as fast as he could back to the Dursleys. A few minutes later he found himself banging on the Dursley’s door looking over his shoulder to see the advancing crowd turning the corner of Privet Drive. The door opened and Joe stumbled into Mr. Dursley who picked him up and helped him into the house. ‘What happened Joe?’ he asked as he sat him down on the couch. ‘I was attacked. One minute someone was laying into me, the next he was gone and there was a crowed of people at the other end of the alley.’ ‘Let me get this straight you took the short cut? How many times have we and your parents told you not to do that?’ ‘I know I should have just taken the road route but it looked safe.’ At this point there was a loud banging on the door. ‘That’ll be them looking for me.’ Mr. Dursley got up and went to check who was outside. He opened the door to see an angry group of youths. ‘Where is he?’ one of them said ‘We know he’s in here’ the group tried to push passed Mr. Dursley. ‘What’s he done to you? From what I can gather you lot attacked him.’ The group parted making room for one of them to be helped forward. ‘He flung me half the length of the ally.’ ‘He’s a 10 year old boy he could not have done that.’ The gang once again tried to get passed Mr. Dursleys over sizes waist, once again without success. ‘If you do not leave I’ll have my wife call the police. Do you think they’ll believe your far fetched story about being thrown 50m by a 10 year old? I don’t think so.’
