I thought boys were silly and teased my sister's boyfriend relentlessly.

"I see Billy kissing Jean. Yuck!"

Eight years difference was a lot when my sister, Jean, was dating and I was a rowdy brat of a kid. I thought boys were silly and had no use for them; that is, except for Billy. His face flushed and his Dumbo ears were neon signs. My juvenile mind thought his embarrassment was fun.

All Billy wanted was to get rid of me. One day he offered money for candy, a Coke, or ice cream at Sol's Drug. That was a mistake. From then on I harassed them until he could stand it no longer.

I weaseled money out of him for several months, then he simply stopped coming around.
