A Moment of Pain
Just a quick poem I jotted down the other day when I wasn't in the best mood.

The shadow of memories
From days long passed
Seems all we have left
Of what I thought would last.

The cooling of embers
That once housed the spark
Now and finally extinguished
Leaving only smoke rings in the dark.

The bitterness of love
Too long and oft betrayed
The truest testimony to
A relationship now decayed.

The heat of anger
Denied; ignored; repressed
A silent and constant torture
For a heart not allowed to rest.

The flare of pain
At last too much to bear
Letting go of all I’ve held
The truth, that you don’t care.
