fade to gray
Rated: E | Poetry | Spiritual | #1794437
an empty house remembers me ~

came to me
one more time
scarlet suns and meadows blue
places fair
I move between
every dream returns to you

whispers tell
the way we were
came again most every night
told of roads
and other worlds
beyond the one we leave behind

I wondered why
but you won't say
why I taste your name so sweet
familiar song I never sang
an empty house
remembers me

and there we are
amid the pines
as daylight turns
ten thousand years
whenever living floats me home
as every far away
so near

awake before the morning falls
and I must move
beyond the lane
I slide my hands along the wall
close my eyes
and speak your name

where we were
I am again
night after night
the long way back
between the barns and past the stall
a candle stains
the shadows black

yet I return
I know I will
sure as orchids fade to gray
along the walls
where once we loved
longing peels the past away
