One for Dad
A poem I wrote many years ago, for a father who wasn't always there ...

I wanna lock the door
wish you far away
it's the only way I know
to keep the anger at bay.

I just don't understand
how you don't seem to care
when it was always me
when I was always there.

I'm your only daughter
my love has never strayed
so maybe you can explain
why it was me you betrayed.

No child should endure
all the shit you've put me through
how did you fall from grace
how did I come to hate you?

Maybe I grew up to soon
or maybe you got lost
but somewhere on the way
your little girl was the cost.
