The Unseen Child
Rated: E | Poetry | Emotional | #1797608
The meaning of this is mine to keep
How I loved her
How much she loved me too.
How bravely she fought for me, for a soul so nearly damned
Through the ravages of ages I held her fragile hand
while she assimilated poison and she assimilated shame
to become a fearful monster in a diminutive frame
But I loved her all the same.
How could I not.
She saved me.
Her life precluded mine
Why could he not love her, why did he choose to harm her,
twisted thoughts of purity passing through his mind.
And she suffered their torture and she suffered his pain.
Far too much suffering for such a diminutive frame
Yet I withstood it all the same
How could I not
She saved me.
