Beryl the bounteous bourgeois bohemian Strumming a break the plates ballad For the rubbles to buy a breakfast Of butchered bacon and beans Boiled to rise with yeast Baked into bread Toasted brown In a brass bowl With blueberry jam Served hot on the table Black coffee without milk Unless a tip arrives in time For the chef carving the bacon Lying in bits and pieces torn apart A beautiful sight for beggars passing by Please buy the aprons for us to wash the dishes At Bert's Burger Bar! Beryl's best bet for a better breakfast Followed by a parrot-fish cleaned and soaked with spicy rice in a pan Poached with some pears on a gas stove bolted to a bicycle On the crowded steps of the Bolshevik ballet theater With pigeon eggs served over easy The American dream Far from home -
