                                    Ghazal 305


Persian:  Kharaabi e mun az aan chashm e purkhumaari purs
              Halaak e jaanam az aan laala e bahaari purs
Urdu:      Wajh e kharaabi e dil chashm e purkhumaari hay
              Halaak e jaan keray laala e bahaari hay

English:=== It's a lot of trouble, that dreamy eye
                  It can stab at will and crucify
                                          -

Persian:  Zay zakhm e ghamza cheh pursi keh dar jiger chand ast
              Zay sad fazoonst walay zakhmha e kaari purs
Urdu:      Kiya hay raish jiger hi mera na ghamzay nay
              Lagaaya qalb pay bhee zakhm aek kaari hay

English:=== Its every lash is like a dart
                  Which can jab and wound your poor little heart
                                            -

Persian:  Ghulaam e chashm e to am, gercheh naawak e to khush ast
              Walaik lazzat e aan az dil e shikaari purs
Urdu:      Houn maen ghulaam agercheh kamaan e abroo ka
              Bohat azeez walay nawaak e shikaari hay

English:=== Beware you also of her bow-like brow
                  It can kill a hapless lover and how
                                            -

Persian:  Dilam keh zood faraamoush meekunad khud ra
              Mapurs heetch zay hijraan o baiqaraari purs
Urdu:      Kiya hay dard nay baihoash hijr maen laikin
              Zara bhee kum na hoie dil ki baiqaraari hay

English:=== And though she's cruel, it's also true
                  That without that gal you cannot do
                                            -

Persian:  Maraast dard e saray az khumaar e masti e ishq
              Ilaaj e dardam az aan nargis e khumaari purs
Urdu:      Khumaar e ishq say hay dard e sar mager aey jaan
              Ilaaj is ka teri nargis e khumaari hay

English:=== And though that eye can crucify
                  It can also soothe and mollify
                                            -

Persian:  Kujaast doulat e aanam keh bar darat baasham
              Nishaan e mun ba sar e koo e khaaksaari purs
Urdu:      Mili na sar ko meray khaak e aastaan jo teri
              Nishaan e sar ba sar e koo e khaaksaari hay

English:=== And although her lover she does mistreat
                  He loves to kiss the dirt of her feet
                                            -

Persian:  Sarood e zouq e faraawaan shuneedaie, aknoun
              Bia, zay KHUSRAVAY zouq e fughaan o zaari purs
Urdu:      Sarood e zouq e faraawaan sun kay, aey KHUSRO
              Hua na kum tera zouq e fughaan o zaari hay

English:=== So without her, KHUSRO, you're terribly alone
                  And you sit and cry, and moan, and groan
