“Pioneers By Faith”
Seeing the pale moon rising pink the sunset in the distance, pioneers of old a memory in my mind Dad and mom with a teenager on the trail, difficult from east to west in the setting sun the vision strange for me color blind in my eye. The other one squinting there, in the distance Dean the pastor marrying couples in the field, praying for mercy our difficulties day by day wrapped in canvas sheets cold in the rain, seeing the tornadoes at the speed of light covering God’s holy ground in darkness. Softly Mom lay on her pillow that day as Dad passed away old and grey, a stroke led him to a portal gate reminding me of his great faith, marrying Mom who loved him under the stars for a church, singing their favorite hymn. “What a friend we have in Jesus our pain and sorrows washed away, the new day dawning bright in the sun shining a door open for sins forgiven.” “Mom! Please don’t cry again today? Dad is waiting at heavens gate with the angels to guide you, welcoming you with a harp playing a song of praise. “Mom! Can you hear me, why are you so pale tonight?” “No my son, my time has come, you must continue with the journey; your life will be blessed in our memory, we are the pioneers glorifying our Lord.”
