Unwanted Words
Words that come unbidden like flies or ants at a picnic

words that come unbidden
crawl about my mind
like flies or ants at a picnic
doubts, fears
recriminations of the day
as if they could change
the way things happened
as if they could change
the past
a memory of how it was
or how it seemed to be
it was never quite like that
it was emotion
made it seem that way
