Jacob’s Ladder
Jacob’s ladder reached to Heaven in the morning, just past seven. He had wrestled all the night with an angel dressed in white, toiling on the dusty sod, challenging the mind of God, seeing he could not prevail, now a new name, Israel. “Bethel” he would name this place, where he’d seen the master’s face, where he’d found peace in his space, where he’d understood God’s grace. 9-4-2911 3 stanzas 12 lines 8 beats per line, first two lines Then 7 beats per line aabb, ccdd, eeee
