"Happity, happity, Birthity Day! Happity, happity, Birthity Day!" Kevin Llama sang as he jumped and skipped across the grassy green pasture.

He'd sing a while, then hum a while. He tried to whistle, but it just came out as spitting.

"Why are you so happity?" Bunnie Bunny asked trying to keep up with the zig zag pattern Kevin was dancing across the field.

"Going to a birthityday party today. It's going to be different than any ever before," Kevin said.

Aylin doubted whether she wanted to go to this party. She didn't know of any other humans that would be there. She secretely wished she had stayed home and played. Or she could be reading. Aylin loved books. But she was here now.

She knew the minute she arrived it was going to be different, very different. There were eleven wrapped packages on the table. There was no cake, no ice cream, and only water to drink. In each corner there were troughs of oats, barley, and wheat. Smokey, the horse, was across the room trying to be more of a pig than a horse as he ate the sweet feed in his trough. And those presents, they looked different than anything she'd ever seen wrapped up before. They even moved and made noise.

Someone else had arrived. Yea! Another human. I won't feel so out of place now.

"Daddy Mike!" Aylin squealed.

"Hi Aylin. I am so happy another human is here. I didn't know what to expect."

Aylin knew that just by looking at him. His tuxedo was definitely out of place.

"Little overdressed aren't you?" she asked.

"Well, you see Petey Penguin invited me and when I asked him what he was wearing, his response was his tux. So, that's what I wore too." Daddy Mike explained.

"Okay, but with all the other guests being animals, you may get pretty dirty. You know all our games will be outside."

"Yeah, I see that now. It will be okay anyway. Looks like it is going to be lots of fun. What's in the strange gifts? Do you know?"

"No, but they move and I even thought one sneezed!"

Calera Calf announced it was time for everyone to leave the barn and go outside for some games.

A distinct cough came from one of the gifts.

Aylin and Daddy Mike noticed the barnyard was crowded with guests who were all dressed differently except for the birthityday hats. Even Ozzie, the dog, was wearing a party hat.

But of course the birthityday party was for Skipper the dog. Skipper's mom, Izzyy, called everyone around to watch as Skipper opened his gifts.

What a surprise Aylin got when each gift unwrapped turned out to be another human. The first was Jenny, a little girl with red pigtails and a big smile. Thomas giggled when Skipper nipped his leg as he tore the wrapping off of him. Reagan, Jackson, Victor, Seth, and Leah squealed with delight as their birthityday paper was removed. Aylin's best friend, Zoey, and her cousin Maddie were next to be unwrapped. Oh, goody, goody the last two presents were her other cousins Carys and Cate. How much fun they would all have at this strange party. Standing close by was Mama Nell , Aylin's grandmother and her Grandmommie Sandy.

It was time for entertainment and Henrietta Hen and Ron Rooster were up first.

"Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo," Ron crowed.

"Cluck, cluck, cluck," Henrietta clucked.

Together they sang, "There's a comb on my head. Whoopty doo, there's a comb on my head."

Henrietta went solo, "I can lay you eggs, la, la, la, la."

They joined their voices again, "We live in a coop and we can do the happity chicken dance."

Everyone laughed as they chicken danced their way to the back of the barnyard.

Donna Duck and Gail Goose rolled with glee.

Dora Deer, Amy Alpaca and Ernie Emu edged their way to the shade of the oak tree to watch what was coming next. Kitty Kitty and her kittens Itsy and Bitsy joined them as Mollie Mouse scurried to the other side of the barnyard. Harry Hamster was close behind Mollie. It may be a party, but you can never tell when Kitty would get hungry.

Polly Potbelly Pig and her sisters, Petunia and Pansy found their way to the pond for a wallow in the mud.

Tom Turkey went next with a dance. Guess what it was? You got it, the Turkey Trot. Lanie Lamb recited the tried and true nursery rhyme Baa, Baa, Black Sheep and never missed a word.

There were magic tricks and games. Dudley Donkey was not the happiest of animals though when Daddy Mike tried to pin another tail on him. He brayed loud and long. You would have thought it was a huge needle instead of a small pin Daddy Mike used.

Sammy Skunk arrived late with his children Blossom, Essence, In and Out.The party was still going good with lots of fun, games, singing, dancing and even storytelling. It wasn't long until the party ended.

When Aylin got home she told her mommie as she crawled into daddy's lap, "It was the craziest birthday party ever. It was so much fun though. I am so glad I went."

"Why did you come home so early then," Mommie asked.

"Well, everything was going fine as long as the party was outside. When we moved inside though the smell wasn't so good. Phew, wet pigs. That wasn't the worst though. When the Skunk family gathered around Sammy realized In was still outside. He sent Out to get In. He found him and they came in. Sammy asked Out, "How did you find In that fast?"

Out replied, "Instinct."

"And Mom he really did. He stank so bad we all had to leave!"
