Nobody's Poor- the 2010 Census Claims
The truth behind the 2010 Census and the definition of Poverty in America.

The Census Bureau has completed a 2010 report on poverty in America. After reading it I am furious. It seems the report was done just to prove that poor people aren't as bad off they "should be". Just because you are poor does not mean that a friend or family member can't afford to give you a gift of say a TV, computer, or even a car. If people are required to list all the rich; American amenities that really have nothing to do with the cost of nutritious food, heating/cooling, medical care.

I am reminded of Federal government snoops of the 60's and 70's who went about in ghettoes looking for contraband items like radios, toaster ovens, black and white televisions, and any little thing that wasn't in the home at the first visit. Yes, those poor families were robbing the Feds blind by not admitting they were toasting their sliced bread while their kids watched Captain Kangaroo instead of eating the lead paint of the walls . People may be obtaining items at thrift shops or even off the curb for almost nothing. Does this mean they are not poor if they find an air conditioner for free? And I can't believe the census included VCRs as a luxury since it's dead technology. Admittedly; I still have stacks of VHS tapes that I watch on occassion but I hardly consider that a basis for gauging one's financial status.
Having phone service is a medical necessity for all people. You can't summon 911 without it. Internet is also required technology for school children who are required to go to a library if they don't have one. The cost of  gas for driving to a library versus paying the 20 dollar internet bill. Do the math people. Many poor people get discounts on their phone and electric bills.

The 2010 Census notes the average poor person stated they had sufficient funds to meet all essential needs and to obtain medical care for family members throughout the year whenever needed. Considering parents and caregivers can be charged with criminal negligence if they have no health insurance for thier kids; an admission of the lack thereof can put people in jail and their kids put in foster homes. Which is funny when you consider that the average doctor visit lasts 10 minutes and consists of nothing more than height and weight checks and the vaccines that cause more harm than good. The child's vitamin D blood level is never checked, doctors don't know how to recognize thyroid or hormonal imbalances, all they do is hoist a pill on the poor kid if they exhibit ADHA symptoms which are a sign of poor nutrition and a need to balance the body . But by all means let's start taking kids away from caring parents because they can't afford the obscene rates for health insurance.

According to 96 percent of interviwed poor parents stated that their children were never hungry at any time during the year because they could not afford food. Well of course they did. Who in their right mind would say otherwise? The Federal government has lied to the public and stated that the COLA ( cost of living adjustment) hasn't risen in three years.

As anyone knows who grocery shops, prices rise every month and have been for several years. One red bell pepper costs 87 cents on sale at Wal-Mart. One roll of toilet paper costs over a dollar. A pack of chicken wings is over $8.00. There are no coupons for natural produce and meats , just pricey pre-packaged meals. The folks already living on rice, dried beans, little or no fruits and vegetables can't cut back anymore. For the ones with no education on healthy eating they are living on Top Ramen and white bread. With the Feds denying the rising costs of groceries and personal necessities ; people are afraid to admit they are going hungry for fear of losing their children after doing the best the can. The elderly fear being put in a state nursing home if it is disclosed they are going hungry after being denied food stamps because they have a small social security check and managed to keep their home. It's also a matter of pride. People don't want to admit they are poor.

Malnutrition (also called undernutrition) is a condition of reduced health due to a chronic shortage of calories and nutriments. The 2010 Census stated " There is little or no evidence of poverty-induced malnutrition in the United States." What a crock. People are not getting enough vitamin C or D in their diets. They are low in magnesium and calcium. Over 80 % of all people tested in the United States are iodine deficient as well. And the main cause of iodine deficiency is due to fluoride exposure. Yup; the same fluoride the Feds lied to us and said is good for us is actually making brittle bones and causing generations of deficiency in enzymes and hormones need to be healthy.

Government surveys claim the average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is "virtually" the same for poor and well-to-do children and is "well above recommended norms" in most cases. When you consider the Federal RDA (recommended daily allowance) set for vitamins, proteins and minerals ; is actually far below what has been proven healthy and beneficial to the body; one can assume that the federal government is just fudging the numbers again for their own purposes. Many scientific studies found that the RDA of 50 mg. of vitamin C to be almost useless in preventing disease and the amount proven beneficial is 2,000 to 6,000 units of vitamin C daily. The same holds true for other vitamins and suppliments. If one consumes the goverment RDA of vitamins, foods, etc, they will probably have  inflammatory illnesses, and poor health in general.

I am not surprised to hear mobile homes coming under attack in the census as well. Which shows how little the Feds know about housing. please refer to my recent article in the Examiner concerning the newer, eco-friendly, healthy mobile homes. http://www.examiner.com/green-living-in-allentown/it-s-here-the-2011-lehigh-vall... They are cheaper to purchase than traditional homes; yet just as sturdy and some have stronger walls than the pressed board constructions of todays McMansions.  We cannot dictate what kind of structure poor people live in in order to qualify as poor. A brick apartment can be a slum while a trailer is in better condition.
I guess President Regan Summed it up best when he said we need less government; not more in our daily lives. True help is compassionate and not restrictive of enjoying the simple things in life.
