Paint and brush here to paint me red against your blackest night. Fair to feathers floating upward - words into your silence soar. Breath to warm each chill surrendered - hope tied up in ribbon. always sits in boxes tissue paper hearts. I keep forgetting why it is - I keep you in the dark when every time we talk you make me smile. Warm as Sunday biscuits a schoolgirl once all over - yesterday don’t matter where we are. Just the thought of you returning - year old maps to show the way. Roads may get me nowhere - I won’t miss. Stay the night and tell me everything - where you were and why you came - where the rivers take you when you go. Mountains fall to reasons left between - here I am and you a part of places I am better. Line by line writing in the dark.
