Missy (Michelle) Crockett Estes
December 11, 1943 - September 11, 2011

Missy (Michelle) Crockett Estes of Evening Shade and formerly of Clinton, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 11, 2011, in Batesville.

Born in Corbin, Kentucky, on December 11, 1943, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Lillian Evelyn Smith Williams.

She graduated from Little Rock Hall High School and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She also held two Master's degrees. She was a social studies and English teacher for more than 20 years in Clinton Schools before retiring. Missy returned to teaching later and spent 8 years in Thayer, Missouri, where she retired last year. She was of the Baptist faith.

Her biggest passions were reading and writing and she was proud of being a published writer. She loved to teach, to travel and had just become a master gardener. Her energy, creativity and wit made an impression on all she touched. She was one who endured and overcame life's adversities believing in herself and God. Her boys and grandchildren were a source of great pride.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Estes of Evening Shade whom she married on November 21, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada; three sons: Bobby Crockett and Hayden (Paige) Crockett both of Fayetteville and Creed (Amanda) Crockett of Harriet; and five grandchildren: Trey Crockett, Taylor Crockett, Sydney Crockett, Spencer Crockett and Kale Crockett. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Michelle.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Evening Shade with John Finn officiating. Burial will be at Powell's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Evening Shade, 196 W. Main Street, Batesville, AR 72532
