Include both positive and negative traits. Be detailed and be explicit. These attributes do not necessarily have to be brought out in the play but go into making up the character in the mind’s eye of the playwright. Once this requirement is complete, the student is encouraged to begin writing the drama with an eye to quickly completing a rough first draft. Try and do this in one sitting and if this is too difficult, then lower your standards and use “thin prose” as placeholders that the writer will come back and fill in in greater depth, later. The initial draft is the working model that will be refined and developed in future edits. It is a living document
