Driving along this dark and lonely road, struggling to make out the white markings with only headlights and hazy, recovering eyes to help, I feel in control of my life, but much prefer auto pilot when possible. As I follow the curving path heading sharply left and enter a tunnel of forest life, large, spooky trees hovering over my car, the branches and leaves making sure to mask any remaining star light, the events of the last few days haunt my mind. Many things have gone wrong, one of which consisted of me being woken up two hours ago by the unusually loud snoring of my attractive female boss, finding myself in her bed, her right thigh across my lower chest and my right arm curled under her body. She looked gorgeous and naked and married. Married to a successful business man in fact. What she could want with an average looking twenty four year old office temp was beyond me. A one night stand, possibly, but she could get that at any bar around town with a better looking, confident fully grown man, you would think. At thirty eight, she’s fourteen years my senior and incredibly sexy. This is just the way my life is going at the moment, it’s hard to work out the things that I find happening to me or find myself doing on a daily basis. It’s 4am now and the welcome sight of electric light enters my vision as I pass into town, the street lights turned on around here. I take a right and pull into the entrance of Bennies, a local 24 hour food/coffer stop, sliding into a vacant space. I turn the keys, and the sound of the engine fading and coming to a stop seems to be the perfect sound track for the way I’m feeling. Cheer up, I tell myself, you just fucked a beautiful woman, now you’re getting coffee, life doesn’t get much better. In a way, it worked. I step out of the car and slam the door shut, heading towards the red framed double doors that are filled with steam on the inside thanks to the hot kitchen and the early breakfast preparations.
