It was always you.
You’re my other half and you possess all of the qualities I lack. You’re selfless and you’re so considerate and compassionate without trying and I feel like because I lack all of your good qualities you complete me.

You make me the better person I was born to be, you make me kind and caring and you make me want to give back to others how you’ve given back to me—pay it forward in a sense.

You’re every soppy cliche; you’re the reason I wake up in the morning, you’re the peanut butter to my jam, you put the stars into my sky and the sun very well might shine out of your....you get the gist. I don’t think anyone, including you, could truly realise what you’ve done for me or what you mean to me.

But for all my insecurities and all the times I will say that you can do better, I can safely say I’ll love you better than anyone else ever will. I’ll constantly try to think of innovative ways to tell you I love you, and I’ll always put you first. I’ll kiss you every morning before you or I leave for work and I’ll never go to bed angry at you. I’ll write you quirky notes and leave them in your pockets or under pillows when I’m with you, and I’ll send you hand-written letters when I’m not. I’ll buy you cheesy gifts on holidays and I’ll always try my hardest to cheer you up even when you don’t want to. I’ll listen to everything you tell me and I’ll make sure to remember everything—even the unimportant facts. I’ll never make you put me before your family. I won’t ever yell at you for your mistakes, instead I’ll try to help come up with realistic solutions to help you deal with them. I’ll make you tea and soup on days when you’re ill, and on your birthday I’ll do whatever you want so that you have the best days ever, because I genuinely think the day that the most wonderful human being alive came into this world is something worth celebrating to the max. I won’t ever make you do things you don’t want to (except for the occasional movie marathon or snuggle session, and maybe sometimes I’ll make you let me wear your clothes, because I love doing that) and I’ll tell you on a regular basis how wonderful I think you are. I’ll never take you or what you do for me for granted and I’ll never ever forget the sacrifices you were and are willing to make just so that you and I can have a future.

I love you so much, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, even if it means a rustic flat somewhere with a brick wall and an old fashioned stove and a big window near our bed that we can look out together on gorgeous days. I want to grow old with you and make lasting memories with you and I want to convince you eventually that I do in fact love you the most, more than you could ever love me. I want to get to a point where we stop learning about each other and instead learn with each other, hand in hand, side by side, because you’re my soul mate and I want to be wherever you are enjoying whatever you’re enjoying.

You make my world more vibrant and my breaths more crisp and my smiles wider and that’s never going to change.

I’ll feel more lost without you than Marlin when Nemo disappeared.
I love you always.
It was always you.
