Hello! For the subject I choose revenants. User: revelry's sorrow
Revenants: A revenant is a visible ghost or animated corpse that was believed to return from the grave to terrorize the living. The word "revenant" is derived from the Latin word, revenans, "returning", from the verb "revenire"; in French, "revenant" means "coming back", from the verb "revenir", meaning "to come back". Premise: The independently wealthy pay to become revenant (zombies) only to find they become slaves. Part 1: Mr. Masters, a rich man, is informed by the doctor that he only has a few months to live. He is dying of lung cancer. He asks if there is anything that can save him. Doctor shuts and locks the door explaining that anything is possible for the right price. Dr. gives Mr. M a business card for Dr. Coronar. For occupation, it says "Dealer in Immortality" and gives the address of a mortuary. He goes in his limo, closes the partition between him and the driver, and dials the number. A woman informs him that Dr. Coronar will see him that evening. Part 2: Mr. M gets out of his limo in front of the mortuary. Dr. C has a bronze plaque next to the door: "by appointment only. Ring bell.". A video camera pops out of the door when he rings. A man's voice calls Mr. M by his first name even though he never gave it to the receptionist when making the appointment. He is let inside. The door is thick but seems to open with ease by itself. Part 3: A strange little man approaches Mr. M and shows him to a dimly lit study. He sits down and the little man disappears, leaving only a trail of smoke. As Mr. M picks up a glass of wine a breeze blows through the room. The candles light themselves and Dr. C is standing in a doorway that wasn't there before. Conversation is polite until Mr. M gets impatient and asks about all the hocus pocus. Dr C tells a tale of how he learned his trade in Africa and South America, finally ending his quest in the Southern part of the United States. He has found the secret to immortality and is willing to give it to Mr. M for a price. Mr. M signs documents giving Dr. C and his "company investors" which Mr. M becomes one of rights to his entire estate upon his "rebirth". Mr. M goes back to his estate and shares the "secret deal" with his only daughter, Anna, assuring her that she will be taken care of as well. Part 4: Two months later is Mr. M's funeral. It is a small ceremony with an ashes urn as the center attraction. Anna explains to the executor of the estate that Dr. C's mortuary has graciously covered the costs until the estate can be settled. It seems that there is a search on for the existence or lack of a illegitimate brother of hers who is to inherit things if he does exist. Part 5: The mortuary where Mr. M, fully alive, is receiving plastic surgery explaining that he can no longer be seen but in the bargain he is going to look much younger. Also a transmitter is surgically placed in case he decides at some point to try to renegotiate the deal. Recovery from the surgeries will take far less time than normal. Part 6: Anna introduces Logan (formerly Mr. M) as her long lost brother to the executor & Dr. C is with them. The executor is astonished as all but a small inheritance to Anna is willed to Logan, Dr. C & the "organization". Part 7: The estate is sold and Logan and Anna are moved to a modest bungalow in Georgia from South Carolina. Things go inexplicably well, though Logan has a special diet that is cooked by a special chef known only as "d". Anna must fend for herself in the kitchen as "d" works in the underground caverns beneath the town. Dr C comes to the bungalow & explains to Logan in private that he still owes the organization certain services as one of its members. He is assigned to take over a plane with other org. members and crash it into the twin towers on 9/11/01. The members are given protective gear & the "terrorist" bodies are claimed by a "special task force" at the scene. Part 8: Logan returns to the bungalow, sore but seemingly unharmed until he shows Anna the horrendous scars where his body was pieced back together. Only his arms below the elbow and his head above his shoulders look unharmed. He explains how he was "alive" during the whole thing, including being discovered after the crash and being pieced together, experiencing all the pain of t it all. While Logan was gone, Anna had met a wonderful man from the next town and plans to have him come for drinks that night. Logan says he will find a way to somehow refuse the next service. When Derek arrives, Logan recognizes him as a surgeon that helped piece him back together. Neither reveals this to Anna. Part 9: Anna falls ill and Logan realizes it is the organization murdering her to bring her in. He tries to burn them both to death in the bungalow. Part 10: It is a year later, & Anna & Derek bring home to show Logan the new baby the organization has blessed them with. A new program has begun where they will enhance the child genetically as he grows and then make him revenant at the proper time. Unfortunately this make revenants like Logan obsolete and Logan will "put out of service".
