Welcome to the Tampa forum. Take a peak around at all the shiny new space, then introduce yourself in the “Hi, I’m …” thread.

DuckyLuver and I are also new and shiny…as ML’s anyway. We are really excited to be working with all of you this year to make 2011 our best Tampa NaNoWriMo ever.

Please check out the calendar frequently over the next few weeks, as we will be updating it regularly. Note that there are Wednesday night write-ins set up already. More to come!

Synopsis

Well, I'm a pantser, so I don't know what this synopsis you speak of is, but if I had to guess, I'd say that my main character is going to break up with her current boyfriend, hook up with a new guy who, of course, is generally bad news, but has some good characteristics buried deep, deep down inside. All her friends think she's an idiot for even still talking to him, but something keeps drawing her to him, but she doesn't really know what. And this guy seems to be drawn to her too, even though she drives him crazy with her personal neuroses, and even though it would be a lot less work to just go get another girl. But they keep missing each other. Eventually something will probably happen that brings them together, oh and something involving that pesky ex-boyfriend of my MC will have to occur, and who knows what other sorts of shenanigans might ensue, but that's the general idea that's floating about in my head. Ta-da, I have a synopsis. :D

Send your ML (or ML’s) an e-mail introducing yourself.  Tell them about this class if you want and at least one other thing about yourself.  Ask them about your region’s Kick-Off party/gathering, upcoming Write-Ins, and any other activities they have planned to make your region’s NaNo experience more fun and get folks meeting together.

Hello

My name is Ida Matilda Wright. I am a divorced mother of three. My two sons live with me and my  partner, but my daughter lives with her dad.

I have just published a book of poetry with Publish America. I have not sold any yet, but it is something that I have always wanted to do. I found this challenge through my writing.com course NaNoWriMo write a novel in one month. Writing has been my family for over three years. When I have had problems they have been there to pray me through.

Does this group have region’s Kick-Off party/gathering, upcoming Write-Ins, or any other activities.

I am new at this. Is there things that will make this experience easy?

How many times have you entered?

Is this the only Novel activity on writing in a month?

How long have you been with NaNo?

Well thank you for answering this email, and for all the encouragement that you can give.

Hi Matilda, and welcome. Congratulation on your book of poetry and I hope it does well.

If you check out the calendar in the Tampa Forum, you will see that we have, so far, a kick off party on the 1st, at The Brick House on Dale Mabry, We also have write-ins planned for Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We hope to have more scheduled soon, but even without, that's a pretty active week.

This is my 6th nano...I succeeded with the first three...then #4 hit in a crazy school schedule and I quit after one day. I finished #5 last year. I tend to write Science Fiction.

I'm a total "Pantser" in that I do best if I only very loosely plan my story. I tried plot point cards and character cards and structured everything one year, and that was my least favorite both in execution and in results.

My best writing advice is to keep going, even when it does not feel like you are doing good work. It is surprising to me how often, looking back on something I was unhappy with, I find that it is workable, or that it shows me where to go. I also tend to break my writing time down into three or more "blocks" of 500 words (or more, if the flow is good). I get one out in the morning before work if I can...if not, I get one at work...if I can. Then another when I get home from work, one after dinner, one after everyone is in bed. When sitting down to write your daily 1667 words seems daunting, kicking out 500 is no big deal. Usually that keeps me ahead of that game so that when a day comes along that I can't get much done, I have a little flex room.

But the thing I learned from my first Nano was just what it took for me personally to get to the finish line. I'm not sure, but I suspect my answers to that won't be yours, or anyone else's. You are going to find your own way, and once you do, it gets so much easier.

Again, welcome, and thank you for writing me. I hope to see you at the kick-off and write-in's.

Sorry--I did. Things got REALLY crazy this week & I'm leaving for Chicago for a couple of days.

I got a promotion at work. Squee! It's a temporary promotion, but I'm stoked. It will also change my hours to 2nd shift starting on Monday. Because I'm prepping for that & already took the time off for Chicago, I've put in 35 hours so far this week...thus not a lot of Internet time.

I have used articles at writing.com, but haven't set up an account there. I should! I did just join critiquecircle.com. Haven't submitted or critiqued anything yet, but a lot of Wrimos are there too.

Take care & I'll check back in on Sunday!!
