A traveler who sat at ten to three
At a depot in Nashville, Tennessee
Saw it scrolling with vigor across the marquee
"Severe Wind Advisory!"

She adjusted her dress for the blusterous affair
She cradled her bags and bound up her hair
And then she helped others around her prepare
As the atmosphere growled defiantly

At first a small breeze softly fondled the crowd
But the hissing and howling grew steadily loud
The storm gathered steam and the canopy bowed
As the sneering gale hollered maniacally

Now the poor traveler tried at ten past three
To cling to the canopy desperately
She watched the words up on the scrolling marquee
"Severe, Severe wind advisory!"

With twice of the force that the marquee forecast
The lady just couldn't any longer hold fast
To the buckling pole which served as a mast
And sent her away, light and hands free
