I dream
not these of sleep
or leavings to become
another world awakens me
I dream

*Compass*

as death
would ne’er deny
the persistence of love
as longing – though our bones be cold
we live

*Key*

from this
we shall depart
upon a dark voyage
into the place of destinies
resting

*Boat*

so still
were we returned
something more than wishes
caused the stars to fall around us
lovers

Author's Note: If you know me, you know how adverse I am to form. "Give me
unconventional, or give me poison." I am, however, a lover of haiku, and as such,
am a lover of this. Adelaide Crapsey invented the form known as cinquain,
inspired by Japanese haiku and tanka. She utilized an increasing syllable count
in the first four lines, namely two in the first, four in the second, six in the
third, and eight in the fourth, before returning to two syllables on the last line.
