Pumpkin and the Moon

Winds are blowing under the trees,
Autumn is here, soon it will rain.
My finest friend, Pumpkin the Tease,
Has just misplaced his mushy brain.

I watched the children use a knife,
There wasn’t much a moon could do.
They said they gave him a new life,
On a board he’s stuck with some glue.

“So sorry my dear Pumpkin friend,
I know they’ve hurt you a lot.
With you I’ll stay until the end,
I’m the only friend you have got!”

“Why are you laughing dear Pumpkin?
Have you completely lost your mind?
You are now a simple bumpkin,
Your face was cut in your behind!”

“Stop crying, Moon, I’m doing fine,
I’m a bit lighter than before.
They only took my broken spine,
Come on, your becoming a bore!”

“Tonight I’m going to a ball,
I’ll have a candle for a brain.
Halloween eve at City Hall,
I’m happy and you cry in vain!”
