FIRST SNOW
The first snow fell quietly in the night, marking an end to the bright sunlight. I will miss the joy and warmth that was and I am writing this poem, just because. I tried to postpone Mother Nature's act, but the snow will come, that's a fact. I have put off the changing to winter tires, had so much to do, many irons in fires. The water line broke and the water;froze, if you see me coming, just hold your nose! I am totally immersed in gloom and doom, as deep heartache and cancer fills the room. There are many things that have borne down on my family, but I still can just look around and see the good that lays in store for me, the days ahead when I will be flying free. No more Thanksgivings, no more Santa Claus, to think of what I will miss sure gives me pause. So I will write now, with the sight of the first snow, how I hate to see the Traditional Poetry Group go, For seven years you have done your very best and I know there comes a time for all of us to rest. Thank you, Monty, dear friend and a true mentor, You've helped me through many a tough winter. Countrymom 10/30/11
