Irony
He wanted powers, only to see the futility of his wish.

This is the result of a recent school assignment: to write and perform a song in front of the class. The time limit was four weeks, but I struggled to do anything at all due to NaNo and other projects that needed attention. The song was finished only hours before deadline. While I have made a few songs before, this is the first one to actually have lyrics.

There are only three chords throughout the song: Am, Em and Dm.

---

Verse
He spoke to me in my sleep
said he'd make my name
as holy as his.
He erased all I was
all my sins and all my
imperfections.

As I rose to the heavens
all my questions were
answered
But what good is this knowledge
of purpose and life
in the end?
in the end?

Chorus
And I
thought those who danced to my tune
to be empty.
But now
I see that nothing is as hollow as the
puppeteer's strings.

Verse
A soft whisper in the wind
a lonely child praying for her
mother's embrace.
I can't touch her
only offer empty words
and promises.

She yells to me
please! please!
make me as you!
But I know that's one thing
you don't want me
to do.
You don't want me to.

Chorus
I
will look to you and wonder
what it's like to be free.
You
will look to the skies and wonder
what it's like to be me.

Outro
What laughable irony.
Oh, what laughable irony.
