Mommy I Shrunk the Babysitter II

Karen’s world had been turned upside down. In less than 24 hours she had been so small that she could ride a common housefly like it was a horse and so big that she could almost look a giraffe in the eye. But now things had changed again, when she went to bed the night before she was a tall model like woman but now she wasn’t tall enough to reach the middle shelf of her kitchen.
She was in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror. Although she was only 4’11 her body still looked like she was 5’11. She wasn’t shorter but smaller. All the trouble was due to her babysitting job the previous night. If she had known what was going to happen to her she wouldn’t have accepted the job. A shrink ray in the basement of the house had caused her change in size. She was thankful that she hadn’t shrunk as small as she had previously but she still wanted to be her old height.
Karen was trying to think about what she would do next. She couldn’t let anyone see her like this and she needed to contact Phillip Jarvis, it was his device that was causing her predicament. But he didn’t know what had happened the previous night. Only she and Phillip’s young son Guy knew what had happened. She didn’t know how he would react when he found out that they had used his experimental device.
Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door. She turned towards the door and walked towards it. She then heard the knocking again.
“Karen are you in there?” asked a female voice.
It was Karen’s roommate Megan. The two were friends but Karen didn’t want Megan to see her like this. She didn’t know whether Megan would try and help her or just laugh at her. Either way she thought that she could sort this problem out by herself.
“Yeah it’s me,” replied Karen.
“I’m going to pick up breakfast,” said Megan. “Do you want anything?”
“No I’m fine.”
“Ok I’ll be back later.”
Just then Karen heard Megan leave the dorm. Now that she knew that the coast was clear she left the bathroom and went towards her bed. She looked on the ground and saw something that amazed her. She could see the clothes that she had worn the previous night but now they were also smaller. She compared them to her body and saw that they still fit her. She thought that she was lucky in this respect; at least she didn’t have to worry about walking around in her birthday suit.
Karen didn’t hesitate in taking off her pyjamas and putting her clothes back on. She was amazed to see how well they fit. She didn’t even remember them fitting this well when they were normal. She didn’t like the fact that they had already been worn but at this point in time she didn’t really care. At least she still had an outfit.
Suddenly Karen noticed the dorm room open and woman walked into the room. She was around 5’5 with medium length brown hair and tanned skin. She wore a pink shirt and black pants with sneakers similar to Karen’s. At first she didn’t notice the shorter Karen standing across from the room.
“Sorry Karen I forgot my…” said the Woman. She then saw Karen and she stopped midsentence. “Oh my God.” She then slowly walked towards her. “You’re so…” She then arrived at Karen. She was looking down at the woman who normally towered above her. But now it was Megan who was the taller one. “Short.”
Karen then felt another shiver run down her spine and she looked up at Morgan. Morgan was seemingly getting taller but when she looked around and saw that everything else was also getting taller. She soon realised that she was shrinking again. This spurt had been bigger than the previous one because when she stopped shrinking she was only 4’5 tall. She was now a foot and a half shorter than she was 24 hours before.
“Err did you just shrink?” asked Morgan.
“No I just shut up like a telescope,” replied Karen. “Of course I’m shrinking.”
“Sorry, but what’s happening to you.”
“You know that babysitting job I did last night?”
“Yeah.”
“Well there was some kind of shrink ray there and it shrank me. But it was supposed to make me normal.”
“Wait you grew back to normal. How small did you get?”
“Really small. So small that I could see germs. When I was grew I went too far and became a giant.”
“So that’s what it is?”
“What do you mean?”
“Some guy blogged about seeing some freakishly tall girl last night. I just thought he was some kind of nut job but now I know it was you.”
“That’s not important right now. What’s important is getting me back to normal. I don’t want to have to run away from a spider again.”
“You know Karen I’ve always wondered what it would be like if I was the taller one of the two. Personally I would have liked to have been taller, but you being shorter I guess isn’t too bad.”
“This isn’t the time for joking around. You gotta help me.”
“Do I have to? I like feeling like a giant.”
“Morgan!”
“Ok fine. I can’t believe I’m letting a woman who’s a foot shorter than me tell me what to do.”
“And don’t you forget it.”
Karen then ran over to the nearby phone. She couldn’t believe how tall the table was in comparison to her. She felt like she was in elementary school again. In her pocket was a piece of paper which had the Jarvis’s phone number. She quickly picked up the phone and dialled the number. She could hear it ringing.
“Hello this is Phillip Jarvis,” said a male voice.
“Hello I…” replied Karen.
“I’m sorry but I’m not here right now. If you would like to leave a message please answer at the beep.”
Karen put the phone down before the beep came. There didn’t seem to be much point leaving a message, the only thing she thought that she could do was try and find them. But she didn’t know where to start looking. She couldn’t remember their cell phone number and she didn’t know where they would be this time of day. She then thought up of an idea. She looked up at Megan again.
“Meg what are the nearest schools here?” asked Karen.
“What why would you want to know that?”
“If I can find Guy maybe he can get his dad to make me normal again.”
“Why do you think he’s at school?”
“That’s where all kids his age are at this time of day.”
“Aren’t you forgetting something my vertically challenged friend?”
“What?”
“Today’s Saturday.”
“Ah you’re right.” She then started to think again. But for now it seemed that there was one thing that she could do. “We’ll have to go to their house and wait for them to come home. Then Phil can make me normal.”
“But that could take hours.”
“You got a better idea?”
“Actually I do.”
A couple of minutes later Karen was sitting in a car waiting for Megan to return. They had driven to Phil’s home and now Megan was talking to one of the neighbours. Karen still couldn’t get over how big everything looked now. She felt like a child waiting for her mother to return. It only took a couple of minutes for Megan to return. She sat in the driver’s and looked at Karen.
“How did it go?” asked Karen.
“They’ve gone to a circus. It’s around twenty miles out of town.”
“Oh good maybe this madness will soon.” Just then she felt a shiver run down her spine again. The car’s interior began to grow. Megan watched as her roommate shrank again. She shrank another six inches bringing her height down to 3’11. “I’m a midget.”
“I think they prefer to be called little people.”
“I don’t care what they’re called. If I don’t find them soon I’ll shrink to nothingness. I’ve been close to that size before and I don’t want to go there again.”
“Ok ok I’m going.”
Megan then started the car up and she drove towards the circus. The journey was going to take around half an hour and they weren’t sure whether Karen would shrink any smaller. Right now she looked more like a child than an adult.
On the way however Megan stopped the car at a gas station. This hadn’t been planned by Karen and she was wondering what was going on.
“What are you doing?” asked Karen.
“You don’t expect to get into a circus for free. I don’t have any money with me and all the money you have is most likely too small. Let me just withdraw some money and then we’ll be on our way.”
“Fine.”
“Maybe if we’re lucky kids might go in free.”
“I’m not a child.”
“For now you do.”
Megan then left the car once again and all Karen could do was wait and wonder. What would she do if she did shrink to nothingness. Would she have to fight germs or would she have to dodge molecules. She even wondered if the theory about micro worlds between atoms were possible.
When Megan returned she continued the journey as fast as she could. She didn’t want to break the speed limit since she had been caught speeding once before and wouldn’t get off so lightly. She would face a large fine and possible having her license taken off her. She would never risk that.
Unfortunately the roads were busy since it was a Saturday. What would have taken less than half an hour was now going to take around 45 minutes. Karen sat in the passenger seat impatiently. The sooner she found the Jarvis family the better, she hated being small now. The previous night it had been new and exciting, but now all she wanted was to be back up to her normal size. She would even be content with being Morgan’s height.
“Can’t you go any faster?” asked Karen.
“Do you want to get there fast or alive?” replied Megan. “Your choice.” She then put a CD on that was in her car door. When it began to play Karen realised that it was a nursery rhyme CD.
“What is this?”
“Twenty greatest nursery rhymes. When we get there we’re going to pretend that you’re my niece. That way you won’t look suspicious and maybe you might get some cotton candy.” She then smiled. “I know you like cotton candy.”
“It better be a big one.”
“You can have whatever size you want.”
Eventually they reached circus but it seemed to be very busy. If Karen wasn’t so desperate to get back to normal she would never come. She quickly came out of the car and she began to run towards the entrance. Megan got out of the cars seconds later. She looked over to Karen and she smiled a little.
“Come back here!” shouted Megan. Karen stopped running and turned around. “Get back here now or else we’re driving home.”
Karen reluctantly walked back to Megan. Megan then grabbed her hand and they began to walk towards the entrance. She was acting like she was an adult and that Karen was a young child. Karen understood why she was doing it but it didn’t mean that she had to like it. She hated being treated like a child.
“You’re enjoying this too much,” said Karen.
“Maybe and don’t forget to call me Aunt Meg,” replied Megan.
“Ok.” Megan then cleared her throat. “Aunt Meg.”
“That’s better.”
Meanwhile inside the circus there was a large tent with some seating inside. This was the tent for the freak show. In the past it had been one of the main attractions but those days were gone. Many of the top named freaks had either died or moved on. Not many of the freaks had been replaced and now there weren’t any real freaks. All the owner could do was get people who were mildly freakish. The owner was a Spanish immigrant named Fernando De Cava. He was annoyed when people mistook him for a Latin American rather than a Spaniard. He had bought the freak show in its glory days and he was now seriously regretting his investment. He remembered that he was going to invest his money in a little known company at the time called EBay. He thought that it would never lift itself off the ground but now he was kicking himself for it. His problem wasn’t getting the public to attend the show. All he needed was new freaks.
Inside a small office Fernando was at the table with one of the freaks. The freak was a man who could squeeze himself through tennis racket (Without the strings). But not only did he work as a freak he was also the accountant for the freak show. He was crunching the numbers down but it didn’t look good. The show was losing more money than it was earning. In any business that would raise the alarm bells.
“I’m afraid it isn’t good boss,” said the freak.
“What is it Boris,” replied Fernando.
“According to this we are massively in debt. The show could close down any day, we’re barely making the rent.”
“Is there anyway we can save the business?”
“We’re going to need something to draw in customers. I’m thinking more along the lines of either new star attractions or some kind of special offer.”
“What like half price tickets?”
“That might draw in more people.”
“Or maybe if we got either a really tall person or really short. They’re always popular with the tourists.”
“To be a star attraction they would have to be either the tallest or shortest person who ever lived.”
“Damn it.”
Meanwhile both Megan and Karen were searching for the Jarvis family. But there were so many people there that it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. To make matters worse nature was calling for Megan. She hadn’t gone for a pee all day and it was beginning to show. She came across a restroom and she couldn’t help herself.
“Sorry Karen but I’ve really gotta go,” said Megan.
“You can’t leave me here,” replied Karen.
“Don’t worry I’ll be two minutes tops.”
Before Karen could say another word Megan went into the restroom and left Karen outside. All she could do was wait for her friend to return. Disaster struck however though, more or less as soon as Megan left her Karen felt the familiar shiver run down her spine. She knew that she was going to shrink any second and she began to look around to see if she could get out of sight. The last thing she wanted was to shrink in front of everyone.
Without hesitating she ran behind one of the small tents and no sooner did she this the shrink spurt began. Once again Karen watched as the world around her grew immensely. Previously the change hadn’t been too much but she was shrinking more than she had before. She was getting more and more scared with each inch she lost. As the seconds ticked by she went down to 3 feet, then 2 feet then she was down to a foot and she still shrank. When her shrinking did subside she was now no taller than a Barbie doll. She felt like she was in the land of the giants.
Karen looked over towards where the restrooms were she could see a crowd of people between her and Megan. It would be suicide to try and get back to her. The people would surely either step on her or accidentally kick her. Either way she would be killed if she attempted to cross.
“Come on think Karen,” she said to herself. “Put your High School Diploma to some use.” She began to think hard but she failed to notice a man come up behind her. At first he just stared at her and thought she was some kind of doll. But when he realised that she was moving an idea came to his mind. He stepped towards her and his shadow engulfed her. This was when Karen noticed him. She turned around and looked up at him. “Err hi.”
Without warned the man picked up Karen. She struggled as much as she could but if he dropped her it would either kill her or seriously injure her. She tried to scream for help but her voice didn’t carry very far. As soon as he was sure that he had her firmly gripped he walked away feeling happy with himself.
Just across from where this incident happened Megan came out from the restrooms. She was feeling better now, but she noticed that Karen was missing. She did a quick survey of the area but she couldn’t see her at all.
“Why couldn’t you wait Karen?” asked Megan.
A couple of minutes later inside the freak tent Fernando was sitting in one of the spectator seats. He was thinking about what to do to keep his business afloat. He was considering almost any option. Just then from the entrance behind him the man came into the tent, he held Karen in his hands and he couldn’t wait to see Fernando.
“Fernando, Fernando mira lo que encontré,” said the Man.
“Déjame en paz Bruno estoy ocupado,” replied Fernando.
“Pero me encontré con una mujer del tamaño de una muñeca.”
“¿Qué?”
Fernando then turned around saw Karen. He was amazed to see a woman as small as her. At first he also thought that she was a doll but he could see her moving in ways that a doll couldn’t. He could even hear her telling Bruno to put her down. He thought that his business would be saved.
“¿Dónde la encontraste?” asked Fernando.
“Detrás de la tienda de regalos,” replied Bruno.
“¿Alguien vio usted?”
“No.”
“Bueno ahora le dan a mí.”
Bruno then gave Karen to Fernando. In the exchange Karen attempted to escape again but she was grabbed too quickly to make any real escape attempt. He began to inspect her and he could tell that she was very much alive. He felt her body heat and he could even feel his heartbeat.
“Asombroso,” said Fernando.
“Put me down!” shouted Karen.
“You are truly a magnificent creature.”
“I’m not an animal I’m a human being.”
“Yes you are and you’re going to make me a lot of money.”
Half an hour later outside the tent the Jarvis family were walking past. A man with a megaphone stood outside the entrance and he was trying to get people to come in and see the freaks.
“Hurry, hurry step right up!” he shouted. “Come see newest addition to the show! The world’s smallest woman! Limited tickets available.”
Guy began to think to himself. He would like to see the small woman and compare her to how small Karen was the previous night. He guessed that the woman was going to be some kind of dwarf, but he still wanted to see her.
“Mom can we go to the freak show?” asked Guy.
“Not yet Guybrush,” replied Elaine. “We just want to see what else is around first. You don’t want to spend your allowance too quickly.”
“Oh please.”
“After I’ve had my fortune told. Is that alright?”
“I guess so.”
“Good.”
Inside the tent people were coming in. There weren’t too many people there but it was a bigger turnout than was normal. Fernando had a quick look through the curtain and he was happy with the turnout. He didn’t want to send his new star attraction out first. Instead he wanted to leave her to last. As the show began he started to send his other freaks out first. This would wet the audience’s appetites.
Karen was in what seemed to be a rabbit’s cage. She tried to get through the bars but she was too big. She wanted to scream and shout for help as much as she could but it almost seemed pointless. It seemed like no one would come and help her. All she could do was sit and wait for her turn.
Fernando was outside introducing the penultimate freak when Karen felt another shiver run down her spine. She watched as she shrank again but this time she didn’t really care. She thought things couldn’t get much worse. She shrank to less than half her height, she was now back down to 4 inches.
Her shrink spurt however was working to Karen’s advantage though. Now she was small enough to slip through the bars of the cage. Luck was on her side though as no one saw her squeeze out of her cage. She then ran as fast as she could, she didn’t care which way she went just as long as it was away from this freak show. Her options were limited however since she wasn’t sure what to do next. Her only immediate concern was getting away from this mad man.
Just then Bruno took a look at the cage and saw that Karen had escaped. He quickly looked around and saw her running. He also saw that she was now smaller but the last thing he wanted was to lose her. Fernando was a desperate man and if Bruno lost his star attraction there would be hell to pay.
Bruno chased after the tiny Karen and he gained a lot of ground on her. Her size made running long distances almost impossible. She looked over her shoulder to see Bruno. He was almost too close for comfort. She eventually ran into a dead end and all she could do was turn around and look up to Bruno. He looked down at her and gave her an almost evil smile. She felt helpless.
“No se puede ocultar un poco,” said Bruno.
“No,” cried Karen. Just then she felt a warmth through her body. “Not again.”
On stage the final freak was finishing his performance. It had gone down well for with the crowd. Fernando was ready to introduce his new attraction. He was hoping that it would be a real money maker.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, boy and girls of all ages,” said Fernando. “May I introduce to you our newest and brightest attraction? Making her debut today the world’s smallest woman Karen.”
Fernando expected Bruno to come through the curtain with Karen in her cage. But instead Bruno came flying through the curtain and he hit the ground hard. This had caught most of the crowd by surprise.
“¿Qué demonios estás haciendo?” asked Fernando.
“Ella creció,” replied Bruno.
Just then Karen stepped through the curtains but she was now very different. A couple of minutes ago she had been 4 inches tall but now she was an 8 foot amazon. Fernando dropped his microphone and went to run but Karen just grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off his feet. The crowd wasn’t sure if this was a situation or just part of the show. They had all expected to see a tiny woman but instead they were looking at a giant. Karen didn’t seem to be too happy either.
“EVERYONE GET OUT NOW!” shouted Karen.
The crowd began to leave in a hurry. Fernando was struggling as much as he could but he couldn’t break her grip. Bruno was on the ground right next to Karen’s feet but he could barely move. The fall had stunned him for now and he was out of the picture for now. This meant Karen had Fernando to himself.
“YOU REALLY THINK YOU COULD KIDNAP ME AND THERE NOT BE CONSEQUENCES!” shouted Karen. She never normally got this angry but after everything she had been through she felt that she had a right to be angry, even though she was a perfectly nice person.
“I’m sorry I was desperate,” replied Fernando.
“THAT’S NO EXCUSE! I’M TAKING YOU TO THE AUTHORITIES BUT BEFORE THAT I’M GOING TO…” Just then she felt the shiver run down her spine again. Fernando seemed to be getting heavier. She soon realised however that she was shrinking again. In seconds she was too small to hold Fernando and she released her grip on him. He watched as she shrank right in front of him. He thought that such an event was impossible but it was happening before his very eyes. He watched as she shrinking continued, in seconds she was down to 6 inches tall and the shrinking stopped. Karen was now in a giant’s world again. “Clean your boots for you.”
“Coge ella!”
By now Bruno had recovered enough to grab Karen. She was powerless as his hands grabbed her body. She was as helpless before now that her size and strength had dissolved away. Bruno slowly got back up to his feet and Fernando looked at the tiny Karen in his hands.
“You will not be doing anything like that again,” said Fernando. “Mark my words little one if you ever lay a hand on me again I’ll give you to my nephew.”
“That’s no so bad,” replied Karen.
“I forgot to mention his toys don’t last him very long.”
“Oh.”
“Bruno puso de nuevo en su jaula y esta vez asegurarse de que permanece allí.”
“Si jefe,” replied Bruno.
He then took Karen back to her cage. She felt helpless at this point in time, she also regretted her actions when she was big. She knew that she should have escaped instead of getting revenge. If she had actually used her brains she would have escaped when she had the chance.
Just then she felt another warm feeling go through her body and seconds later she watched the world around her shrink. She realised that she was growing and she seemed to be feeling happy. But as soon as her head hit the ceiling of the cage she stopped growing. She was now around a foot tall and she was still stuck in the cage. But by now Karen had realised something, whenever she felt a shiver run down her spine she would shrink and when her body felt warm she grew.
Karen was still unable to control her size, the changes would come from nowhere and she had no control how little or large they were. All she could do was wait and hope that she would have a growth spurt large enough to help her escape.
Meanwhile on the other side of the carnival Megan was frantically looking for Karen. She was looking high and low for her but she was nowhere in sight. She was hoping that something terrible hadn’t happened to her. She was afraid that she had shrunk too small to be seen or if she had been crushed by someone. She thought about reporting Karen as a missing child but her size changing made it difficult to give an exact height.
Megan then overheard something that was said while a couple walked past her. They had just to the freak show and were talking amongst themselves.
“That was one tall woman,” said the man.
“Strange they said she was supposed to be short,” replied the Woman.
“They were probably just messing with us.”
“Tall, short woman?” thought Megan to herself. She began to remember when Karen told her that she had been a giant a one point. She thought that maybe Karen had grown again and she knew her normal height was above average. “She’s gotta be at the freak show, but what the heck is she doing there? I told her to stay where she was.” She then looked around and she couldn’t see any signs for the freak show. Which way is the freak show?”
Back in her cage Bruno had given Karen some bread. But she wasn’t hungry. She was uncomfortable in the cage since now she couldn’t stand up straight inside. She was almost ready for another size change. If she got bigger she would be able to escape and if she shrank she would be more comfortable. Bruno was trying to force her to eat the bread but she didn’t want to.
“I’m not hungry,” she said.
“¿Qué?” replied Bruno.
“I said I’m not hungry.”
“¿Qué?”
“What’s the point? You don’t even speak English. You probably don’t even understand a word I’m saying.”
“¿Qué?”
“Forget about it.”
She sat down with her legs and arms crossed. She was annoyed with both Bruno and herself. She was annoyed that she had gotten herself into this situation. She should have turned down the babysitting job. If she had gone out with Megan to the party none of this would ever have happened.
A few minutes later Megan had found the freak show. She saw Fernando standing outside. She tried to go in but he stopped her. He had just stood there counting how much money the previous show had made.
“I’m sorry ma’am the next show is at three,” said Fernando.
“I’m not here for the show,” replied Megan. “I’m looking for someone.”
“And who may that be?”
“Red head girl about yay tall give or take a few feet.”
“A few feet?”
“Long story but anyway she goes by the name of Karen.”
“Karen you say?” The name had hit him like a ton of brick. He knew that she was talking about his star attraction but he was very reluctant to give her up. I haven’t seen anyone like that.”
“Are you sure I heard that she might be here.”
“You heard wrong. Come back at three and see the show.” Just then they heard someone shout ouch. It was a female voice and Megan seemed to recognise it. “Ok that’s all. Come back later.”
“What was that?”
“What was what?”
“I think I just heard her.”
Inside the freak show Karen had grown burst out of cage. She had grown up to a little over 5 feet tall. Bruno was unsure what to do at this point. She was still too small to really put up much of a fight but she was too big to be a freak anymore. She was below average height but not freakishly small.
But while he was deciding Karen tried to run. Bruno had to tackle her to the ground just to make sure she didn’t escape. He called out to Fernando in Spanish. Bruno hoped that Karen wouldn’t change size again. He remembered what happened when she was 8 feet tall and she was enough a handful at this size.
Both Fernando and Megan came running into the tent. They could see the two struggling and it seemed Bruno was winning. At first Megan couldn’t believe what was happening. She had walked into something that could potentially turn nasty.
“Karen?” asked Megan.
“Don’t just stand there,” replied Karen. “Help me.”
Megan tried to help Karen but Fernando grabbed her before she could. Both girls screamed in an attempt to get help. But no help came, the girls were going to be on their own. It would seemingly take a miracle to help them out.
“You’re only making it more difficult,” said Fernando.
“No way creep,” replied Megan. “When we get out of here you’re going to jail with all the other crooks.”
“No way Jose.”
Just then Karen felt the warm feeling go through her body. She knew that a growth spurt was coming along. She felt her body begin to grow and she easily broke out of Bruno’s grip. She stood up and expected to stop growing soon. But as she went past six and a half feet she knew that she was going to grow pretty big. Fernando and Megan had stopped fighting when they saw Karen grow taller.
Within seconds her head hit the ceiling of the tent. Everyone hoped that she would stop growing there but she continued to go up. The men could see that they were going to be in a bad situation in a very short amount of time.
“¡Corre!” shouted Fernando.
Both he and Bruno ran out of the tent before Karen could grab them. But she seemed to be growing faster and faster. She was having to kneel down and her head continued to push up against the tent’s ceiling. All Megan could do was stare up in amazement as she watched her friend grow larger by the second.
“Get out of here Megan,” said Karen.
“B-but,” replied Megan.
“Just do it.”
Meanwhile outside people saw Fernando and Bruno running away from the tent. They could see a bulge appearing at the top of the tent. Most took no notice of it but in seconds the tent was lifted off the ground. This caught the attention of everyone as they watched Karen grow to colossal size. This began to cause panic amongst everyone and they ran away from her as fast as they could. The only person who was still anywhere near her was Megan. She was still dumbstruck.
On the other side of the carnival the Jarvis family had seen Karen growing. They were going to run away like everyone else but Guy was the only one who began to run towards her. At first Elaine didn’t see him but when she turned around to tell him to run she saw him running in the opposite direction.
“Come back here Guybrush right now!” shouted Elaine.
But he ignored her and kept running. He knew that Karen was in some kind of trouble and that he could help her in some way. But as he looked up at her he could see her growing even taller. She was around 60 feet tall and still going up.
Karen was helpless as everything around her continued to shrink. She had never been this big before and she was still growing. She wondered if she would grow through a cloud or be so tall that her head would go into space.
After several seconds she stopped growing but by now she was over 130 feet tall. The world looked like a doll town. She removed what was left of the tent off her head and dropped it onto the ground. She looked down and saw Megan and she didn’t hesitate in bending down and picking her up.
“Are you alright?” asked Karen.
“I’m fine,” replied Megan. “But K-karen you’re huge.”
“I know but at least know those two Mexicans can’t hurt me.”
“We’re not Mexicans we’re Spanish!” shouted a small voice.
“Whatever.”
“What do we do now?” asked Megan. “Your low profile’s kind of been blown out of proportion.”
“Nice pun.”
Just then Karen felt something tapping her right foot. When she looked down she saw a familiar figure, it was none other than Guy. She also picked him up and put him in the same hand as Megan.
“Who’s he?” asked Megan.
“Let me introduce to you Guybrush Jarvis,” replied Karen.
“It’s just Guy,” said Guy.
“I expected your last name to be Threepwood,” replied Megan.
“Words can’t describe how glad I am to see you,” said Karen. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
“What happened to you?” asked Guy.
“I don’t know. After last night I’ve just been growing and shrinking like it’s going out of fashion. I’m afraid I’m going to grow or shrink too much and cause a lot of problems. You gotta make me normal again.”
“I tried but this happened. Maybe my dad knows how to fix things.”
“Where is he?”
“I don’t know. Last I saw them my mom and dad were near the hot dog stand.”
“Wait a second.” She then stood up to her full height and she could see the hot dog stand. She saw a couple running towards her. It didn’t take her long to figure out that it was Mr and Mrs Jarvis. “I see them.”
She then walked forwards a couple of steps and she stopped right in front of Mr and Mrs Jarvis. They both looked at the leviathan in front of them. They both recognised her as the woman who had babysitted their son the previous night. Phillip had already figured out what had happened to her.
“Guybrush you’ve got a lot of explaining to do!” shouted Phillip.
“You can ground me later dad,” replied Guy from Karen’s hand. “But first you’ve gotta make Karen normal again.”
“But my invention is back at home. We need to get back as soon as possible.”
“I’ll get the car started,” replied Elaine.
“No need Mrs J,” answered Karen. “I can move a lot faster.” She then put stooped down and put her hand on the ground in front of the couple. “I promise to be gentle.”
Both Phillip and Elaine reluctantly stepped onto Karen’s hand. No sooner had they gotten onto her hand Karen stood back up and began to walk back to the house. She was taking huge steps and she even caught a glance of Fernando and Bruno. But instead of going for revenge again this time she just walked past them. She didn’t know how long she was going be big for this time. It could be hours or mere seconds.
Karen didn’t walk at a very slow pace. She had to power walk since it was faster than normal walking but she was being careful where she put her feet. Anytime she had space to run she didn’t hesitate in picking up the pace. She was also being careful with her passengers; she made sure that the journey wasn’t too bumpy.
At first she was doing amazing progress, within minutes they were only a couple of miles away from the home. She thought that she would be cured in a couple of minutes. But without warning she felt a shiver run down her spine. She knew what was about to happen to her.
“I’m going to shrink any second,” said Karen. “And it feels like a big one.”
She only had enough time to put everyone back on the ground before her body began to shrink. She seemed to shrink faster than she had done before. In seconds she was only half her height, then a quarter and then she was down to her original height, but she carried on shrinking.
Thankfully they were right next to a road and there was a taxi coming down. Elaine waved her arms to indicate that needed a ride. The house was only a couple of miles away so the fare wasn’t going to be too much. But by the time the taxi had pulled over Karen was only 8 inches tall and shrinking fast. Megan picked her up and all she could do was watch her friend dwindle in her hands.
As soon as everyone got into the taxi Elaine gave the driver the address of the house. She also told the driver to go as fast as they could since it was very urgent. But while all this was happening Karen was still shrinking. She was soon a speck on Megan’s hand and she wasn’t stopping.
“Can’t you go any faster?” asked Phillip.
“No way Jose,” replied the Cab driver. “One more speeding ticket and my boss’ll fire me for sure.”
“Err Mr Jarvis,” said Megan.
“What?” replied Phillip.
“I can’t see her anymore.”
Phillip, Elaine and Guy all looked at Megan’s hand. Karen had disappeared from sight. It seemed that nothing could help Karen.
In a world only visible through a microscope Karen was inside what seemed to be a canyon. She was still getting smaller and she saw the tiny microbes around her. Unfortunately for her they were seemingly growing in size and she was becoming more and more terrified. The canyon she was standing in was actually the lines in Megan’s hand. She was so small that she couldn’t see anything above her.
The microbes were roughly the size of dogs and they were growing larger. Karen tried to keep as much distance as she could from them. But with her rapidly shrinking body this was becoming more and more difficult. Eventually she was the same size as the microbes and she kept shrinking. As the microbes encircled her she was so terrified that she began to pass out. She fell to ground and was helpless to watch as the microbes came in closer. Now they were the size of monsters compared to her and the world went pitch black.
Sometime later Karen began to wake up. She was very light headed and her body was aching a little. But the shrinking feeling had seemingly gone. She gave out a sigh of relief in the fact that she had stopped shrinking.
But when Karen looked around at her surroundings she saw that she was in a large field. She looked up into the sky and instead of it being blue with white clouds it was purple with green clouds. Even the sun was red instead of yellow.
“Where am I?” she asked herself.
