What can you be when you're nothing at all?
You long to be big, but stuck being small.
Yearn for some contact, yet no one to call.
Oh, how can you fly when you only fall?

And what can you win if you always lose?
What good is soft skin if you're proned to bruise?
Want to be happy but singin' the blues.
Oh, what good are words when you've lost your muse?

What's there to say when there's no one around?
How can you pray while knees bleed on the ground?
You need to be heard yet can't make a sound.
Oh, what is the point if it isn't profound?

What can you wish for if dreams don't come true?
How can you laugh while your tears are still new?
How can you love after all you've been through?
Oh, what can you be when you're nothing but you?
