New Horizons Academy's Fiction Writing Principles Course

Reeling In Your Readers!
Exploring Fiction Writing Concepts and Developing Your Writing Craftsmanship

Come and Join Us!

Reeling In Your Readers is a course designed to give prose writers of all genres, a foundation for understanding the dynamics of basic Fiction Writing principles, as well as exercises and examples for doing so.  Over the next eight weeks, we're going to delve into the basic inner workings of fiction writing.  It doesn't matter whether you're writing a bit of flash fiction for a quick contest or a full blown 100,000-plus word novel, the basic foundation skills are the same.

Starting with some of your simplest, everyday experiences, and working with a new concept and skill each week you will hone your writing craftsmanship skills, and by the end of the term come, out with a case full of new tools to keep your writing strong and improving and a full-bodied, well-crafted story that will Reel in Your Readers and keep them on the edge of their seats until the credits roll.

Each week there will be a discussion, an exercise or essay, and a writing assignment due.  The lessons and assignments in this course are designed specifically for intermediate and "more experienced" beginning writers.

Discussions are a vital part of this course, if you do not have the time or are not comfortable with actively participating in weekly, on-going forum discussions, please reconsider taking this class.  We all have so much to teach each other, and, in this course,  we do it in our discussion forums.

Please Note: We will not be covering grammar or punctuation.  You need a strong foundation in these areas before attempting this course.
