The Crumbling Walls of Wall Street
They came by hundreds, strong and tall Hair sleeked back with gel and all Donning black Armani suits Walking the floors in shiny shoes. Ready to announce their mighty call Watching the great stocks rise and fall Knowing perfectly when to fire And when to get someone to hire. There was no stopping them, these wizards Who aced the markets with brains of lizards Profits grew swell; the horizons looked well Opulent homes were bought and sold to dwell. Treasury chests swung open for all to borrow Buy today, they said, pay for it tomorrow! Alas! greed and avarice snatched all there was Empty stood the coffers; time to change the laws. Foreclosure lists now dot the lines Of newspaper classifieds, as bank defines Victims of promise, predators of doom Equally shattered and lost in a myriad shades of gloom.
