The Winter King
Cardinals in the snow. "A Poem A Day" Entry (Form: Retourne)

Avg Rating: (1)
The Winter King

A flash of red amongst the green;
the Cardinal surveys his realm.
His eyes explore the snowy scene,
attentive ‘neath his crimson helm.

The Cardinal surveys his realm;
his dowdy mate sits by his side.
They sing their songs of oak and elm
that echo through the countryside.

His eyes explore the snowy scene;
he is the master of his fate.
A simple life that is serene -
when threatened, he won’t hesitate.

Attentive ‘neath his crimson helm
he seeks the fallen seeds below.
The cold and winds can’t overwhelm,
he is the king of winter’s snow.
