Cameo on Winter Winter. Nature seems asleep. Weeds have vanished, barren branches, Cold and dark. Yet, I feel fresh and elated, For Winter's sleep promises New life. For this contest the Cameo had to be a single stanza non-rhyming poem with a fixed syllable-count: respectively 2, 5, 8, 3, 8, 7 and 2 syllables per line.
