Father and Mother
Father I placed this call to tell you how I feel
I live here in this greedy world and I’m cursed by what is real
I lived my life by what I saw and sure I could make them see
But I paid the price and in the end it didn’t mean a thing
Father I’m so confused I’ve got those lowdown lonesome homesick blues
I’ve walked your path my whole life through
Just to be told that I’m a fool

I can’t do this anymore watching them sell their souls for just a little bit more
They give up everything for that image they crave
Trade a day of prestige for eternity’s grave

So father hear my plea today take me home…DOA
I’m so weary and I’m growing weak but I know my soul my soul is yours to keep
My world is broke and so abused but I refuse to leave your path
Cause Its where I cannot lose

I can take just a little more watching them sell their souls for just a little more
They give up everything for that image they crave
Trade a day of prestige for eternity’s grave
So father hear my plea today I’m broken but for you I’ll stay

Mother I’m sorry that you bleed they sliced you open to fulfill their greed
Poisoned your heart and your soul and it’s coursing through your blood
So unaware what’s coming’s worse than that famous flood

I will give all I have and more I’ll fight for their hearts and lead them to your door
I’ll give up everything if just ones saved
I’ll lay down my life to pull them from that grave
So father hear my plea today I’m afraid…but for you I’ll stay.
