The table is set
Going back in memory

The table is set

The closer we are getting
to the Christmas holidays
the more I am reminded
of the good old country ways.
-
In my heart I still remember
how excited I would get
when Mama finally got
the dinner table set.
-
With the smell of country cooking
messing up my head
I could hardly wait
till we got the blessing said.
-
I never thought so much
about it way back then
but I'm glad as I look back
upon it once again.
-
That mama took the time
to teach me how to wait
and realize who put
the food upon my plate.
-
And so as I remember
the things I used to know
I am thankful for the table
she set so long ago.
