Nadina, enchantress, wicked and cold
Had a heart that was frozen by hate
For her lover had spurned her, or so it was told
And so madness had become her fate

She once was a lady, a pretty young thing
Many good men begged her for a yes
They wooed and pursued her, fishmonger and king
But with no one would she acquiesce

Along came a young scoundrel, polished and versed
The kind women adore at their doom
He smiled so sweetly, his bold lies well rehearsed
So she consented to make him her groom

Then when the day came, of her grand nuptial feast
Her lover could nowhere be found
But when it was told her, she cried not in the least
And nevermore did she utter a sound

She then went far away, and took off her white gown
And donned her some black robes instead
For though her heart beat, and it moved blood around
Yet all life within her was dead

Now hate was her master, her lover and friend
She laid blame to all men which is sad
And none of the fault did she take herself, in the end
For giving her love to a cad
