The wave appeared from nowhere, its crest rising quickly to tower over the unsuspecting woman even as it raced forward to overtake and engulf her.  Too late, I opened my mouth to shout a useless warning.



"You'd think drivers would be more considerate after a heavy rain, wouldn't you?"

Drenched, she nodded in silent agreement.
