"Star Saga: Swarm of the Bulgata" By Michael Harris FADE IN: EXT. BULGATA - EVENING - SUPER - BULGATA HOME WORLD From high in the sky we see the brown mechanized buildings of the Bulgata planet. Because of pollution, the sky sheds very little to no light. Again from the sky we can now see a multitude of slaves being led into the FEEDING HOUSE with Myrmidions encamped at regular intervals about them. The Myrmidions have their Tuskan weapons pulled high up along their shoulders (instead of near their arms where they can be used) and are all equipped with rifled stun lasers. INT. FEEDING HOUSE - CONTINUOUS Inside, a Myrmidion with a hand held computer terminal begins calling out names, to take stock of the slaves in this sector. He has his laser gun strapped along his thigh and a helmet on his head. The Myrmidion speaks gruffly. MYRMIDION GINDRED FALCOS! An alien man steps away from the bunched together slaves and makes his presence known. He is gray skinned and appears of be of middle age. He heads toward the already assembled line where the meals are being served. MYRMIDION ATLA BORGES! An alien woman steps away from the bunched together slaves and makes her presence known. She is tinted green and also appears to be of middle age. She heads toward the line to be served. MYRMIDION WYNN GLYNN! An alien woman steps away from the bunched together slaves and makes her presence known. She is tinted blue and appears to have not yet entered middle age. In human terms she looks to be in her mid 20s. She heads toward the line to be served like the previous two slaves. The Myrmidion continues the process of calling out slaves by names and Gindred, Atla, and Wynn, after having been served, situate themselves at a grimy elongated table to feed. They look very much deflated and speak in English. Gindred and Atla sit beside one another and Wynn from across. ATLA Another day's work finished, another horrible meal to be eaten. Atla picks through her food with a look of disgust. Gindred looks on concernedly. GINDRED Just make sure you aren't too vocal about it. Otherwise you could be flogged. ATLA I thought I'd be used to eating this mess by now, but it hasn't happened as of yet. Atla picks up with her fork what is a kind of meat. It looks very dry and unappetizing. She looks at it with a tilt of her head and a frown. Wynn hunches her head over her food and speaks softly to the pair. WYNN (continuing) We should never get to a point when we become used to this kind of treatment. We need to organize, and fight for our freedom. Gindred twists his head this way and that worriedly. GINDRED (continuing) Shh! Quiet, girl! Do you realize the kind of trouble you'd get yourself into if- A Myrmidion walks down the aisle way behind Wynn and Gindred quiets himself and makes like he's eating his meal. As he passes, Wynn turns around and sees how close she came to being discovered. She turns back to Gindred. WYNN (continuing) I don't care who hears me. Let the commanding couple themselves hear me. I'd like to force them to eat this rubbish. She picks through her food with a frown and swallows a piece of meat. GINDRED Did any of you hear the latest rumors concerning their newest target? Earth it's called I hear, with its handful of colonies. ATLA I've always wondered how you manage it, Gindred? How you pick up on the latest news and goings on of these brazen and barbaric people? GINDRED Well, you know I work in the technological wing of BLOCK A, so I overhear a lot of what's going on from those in the know. It seems that the commanding couple was beaten back on a planet called Unisee, handily I might add, by these Earth peoples. Wynn listens on intently as if a new hope has just presented itself unto her. GINDRED (continuing) Of course, the entirety of the Bulgata forces were not present to lend a hand to the one and only Intimidator warship, so it was a lopsided victory and not really fair when you consider that nugget of news. Gindred with his fork swirls through some vegetables and begrudgingly eats them. GINDRED (continuing) I imagine that this 'Earth' will fall just like the rest of them. Wynn hunches over her food again and seems a bit agitated. She speaks in a whisper. WYNN (continuing) Now you just hold on a minute, Gindred Falcos. The fact that Earth was able to stay the hands of the commanding couple should speak to their capability in warfare. I've never heard of the Bulgata losing any battles. We should all hope for the best in this situation, perhaps things will work out in favor of Earth and its colonies. She looks toward Atla and Gindred with expectancy. ATLA Perhaps you're right, Wynn Glynn. But more than likely, we'd be fastening our hopes on those who'd fall short of the mark. Atla sighs. ATLA (continuing) If only that benign race of beings, who traveled the galaxy and imparted the wisdom of different worlds and species in eons passed, would return, and see the affliction left on those whom it assisted. They'd surely be a match for the Bulgata. Atla seems to be in reverie at that thought. Gindred and Wynn think on it for a small time and reinstate the task of eating their meal. EXT. EXTENDED VIEW OF BULGATA PALACE AND PALACE DISTRICT The palace is constructed with extravagance and profusion, it is the color of sand and has many domes and spires. It looks like a monument testifying to the discriminating tastes of the commanding couple. INT. BULGATA PALACE, THRONE ROOM Fedos and Fedora sit beside one another in the elongated throne room and have pleased looks in their eyes as they watch a bevy of erotically dressed dancers dance in unison for their king and queen. Illzar stands to the right side of Fedos with his arms folded. After a time the dancers finish their routine and Fedos and Fedora begin to clap their hands, Fedos clapping in longer intervals than his queen. They speak in an alien language but the words they speak appear on screen. FEDORA Bravo! Bravo! The dancers all bow in unison and they begin to disperse. A young child being assisted by a FEMALE AID begins making his way through the dispersed crowd, holding a circular contraption in his hand. He is FEROS, the son of both Fedos and Fedora. Raphsidy enters the throne room as well and begins approaching his king and queen. FEROS Father, mother, look what I've learned to do. Feros holds the circular contraption in his hand and then it begins to move high into the air at an amazing speed and in varied directions. FEDOS Wonderful! So, he has begun to manifest THE GIFT? How goes his training? The aid speaks up. FEMALE AID (with a bow) My lord, my queen, he will be potent with The Gift. I have seen him accomplish things that others began his age and a half. He will be a strong leader of our people when it is time for him to ascend to the throne. FEDORA Excellent. Do not restrict his growth, push, and prod, and prime. This is a pivotal juncture of the young one's development. We must ensure that he realizes his full potential. FEMALE AID (with a bow) As you wish, my mistress. Come, young Feros. The contraption returns to Feros hands. Raphsidy passes by the two and bows on his knee before the commanding couple. RAPHSIDY (continuing) As you have summoned for me, my lord and my mistress, so have I obeyed. FEDOS Yes, Raphsidy. As you no doubt have guessed, the time has come. We must not give humanity much opportunity in preparing for us, we must keep them on their heels, and when we strike, it must be with a crippling blow. RAPHSIDY (standing) I have scanned over their remaining colonies most thoroughly and believe that the planet named Dorridion with its Delta Squadron Academy would be a prime target. It is one of the larger of the colonized worlds and possesses perhaps the greatest force of resistance. Fedora's eyes widen with excitement at this revelation. FEDORA (continuing) Yes, yes. A strong challenge this Dorridion will make for our swarm. Raphsidy turns away from them. RAPHSIDY (continuing) Did either of you consider the significance that the people of Earth speak one of the ANCIENT TONGUES? It is intriguing to be sure. FEDOS That is of no consequence. Whatever the reason behind it, I will have both the people of Earth and Unisee subservient to me. FEDORA In case in the off chance of some foreign empire finding our home world and pillaging it, we should leave several armadas stationed here on Bulgata. RAPHSIDY (with a bow) As you wish, my mistress. FEDOS Let us also send an attack force toward their Omega Squadron Academy, to give them the impression that we are attempting to wipe it out. RAPHSIDY As you wish, my lord. I shall begin the preparations of assembling our forces for the ready. Raphsidy bows and heads for the exit of the throne room. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER EARTH, OMEGA SQUADRON ACADEMY Several dropships approach from Earth and head for the great expanse of the ship port, which isn't filled to the brim with fighters. Once inside, hatches fly open and cadets pour out with suitcases trailing them. Iris Grisham is one such cadet. She looks around the interior of the elongated port, as does most of the others, and is greeted by a middle aged white man with a little graying hair. He is ACTING COMMANDER REAGAN. REGAN I trust you all have had a good flight. IRIS Commander Reagan, where are all the fighters? REGAN (looking around) Most of the cadets were engaged in battle on the newly discovered planet of Unisee, with the alien power. Most everyone internalizes that bit of news. A MALE CADET speaks up. MALE CADET (raising head) Will we get the chance to see the aliens, commander? REGAN At this present time, an opportunity to see the aliens has not introduced itself. The cadets seem discouraged after that revelation, with drooping shoulders, murmuring, and all. REGAN Do not worry. I myself am also a bit anxious to see this alien world. But Czar Shepard has commanded that some cadets remain stationed here, in case of a reprisal. I would imagine that cadets stationed on duty at Unisee can be shuttled here and we can engage in an exchange of sorts. I could probably get Commander Wecker to take my place in that event. Iris' face droops at the news. REGAN (continuing) Well, you all need to get unpacked. All classes have been cancelled in light of the crisis, so you'll have a lot of free time on your hands. In light of this revelation, the cadets spirits rise. Some can be seen high fiving others and some proclaiming 'yeah's'. Iris' expression, however, remains unchanged. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION - SUPER - DORRIDION AND DELTA SQUADRON ACADEMY The Delta Squadron, similar to the Omega Squadron, is a colossal space station that acts as a guard to the blue and vibrant planet of Dorridion. EXT. DORRIDION, DELTA SQUADRON INITIATES CENTER #1 - MIDDAY The sun sparkles high in the sky and people walk to and fro outside of the tinted white Delta Squadron Initiates Center. The building is a several tiered connected structure in the center of a wooded area. INT. TARGET PRACTICE ARENA Initiates hoping to one day become cadets at the Delta Squadron Academy practice shooting their laser guns at paper thin projectiles which continuously appear, disappear, and reappear before them in a large practice arena. They all wear protective outfits. We watch as two such of these Initiates stand side by side in the individual sectioned off areas. They are twins, brother and sister, the young man being INITIATE SIMON BRIDGES, and the young woman being INITIATE SIMONE BRIDGES. Simon is brown haired, white, and wiry strong. Simone is also brown haired, and carries a strong female frame. The two look to be in their late teens. Both Initiates show remarkable aptitude in chasing down the paper thin targets. Just behind those two, stand two men, both wearing regalia befitting of those who have accomplished much in military service. One is COMMANDER ALEX PAILEY HOLTON, commonly referred to as Commander A.P. Holton, the commander of the Delta Squadron Academy, and the other is the head of the Initiate Center, OVERSEER JACK HOFT. Both are white and middle aged. Jack has a blow horn hanging at his side. He raises it up and blasts it, signaling the end of the training session. JACK That'll be it for today, youngsters. You may return to your dorms. Initiates begin to adjust themselves to normalcy. Jack speaks to Holton as he points to Simon and Simone. JACK (continuing) These are the two I was telling you about. Simon! Simone! SIMON & SIMONE Yes, sir? JACK Come here, close to me. I want you to meet someone. They place their laser guns in the provided compartments and take off their helmets, wrapping their arms around them. JACK This is Commander Alex Pailey Holton, or as he is more commonly referred to, Commander A. P. Holton of the Delta Squadron Academy. The siblings look relatively shocked and awed. SIMON Commander Holton, it is a pleasure to meet you, sir. Holton shakes hands with the siblings. SIMONE Yes, you have no idea how long we have been wanting to join the Academy at Delta Squadron. COMMANDER HOLTON I'm sure you two have been looking forward to getting an opportunity to join the Academy for a great while. Just looking at your prowess with the laser gun, I'd say you won't have long before you become full fledged cadets. Simon and Simone exchange glances and laughs. JACK This is not by any means the full extent of their capability. They are very skilled in the martial arts, and they score highly on the field exams. I wouldn't hesitate to turn them over to you this very day, were it not for the alien crisis. As you know, we need every cadet to be as fully trained as possible nowadays. COMMANDER HOLTON (in instant reflection) Yes, there's no doubt about that. With that in mind, however, I will be here for at least another three days, checking up on the progress of our Initiates program. If you two are game perhaps by the end of the term you'll be full fledged cadets and can assist us in quelling this alien threat. Both siblings are visibly excited. SIMONE Oh, Commander Holton, we would be so honored. SIMON Yes, since we were children we have wanted to join Delta Squadron. JACK You two are admittedly gifted, even before your genes have been altered and attuned for this kind of thing. The sooner you become cadets, the better Delta Squadron will be. The two Initiates smile to themselves. COMMANDER HOLTON Well, we should perhaps be going, should we not, Jack? JACK Most certainly, commander. COMMANDER HOLTON I'll see you two at the academy in due time. Keep up the magnificence. Holton winks at them and leaves with Jack. The two siblings smile at one another. EXT. UNISEE, EXTENDED VIEW OF UNISEEIAN STRUCTURES - MIDDAY From the sky we see the beautiful and majestic bright blues, pinks and other vibrant colors of Unisee. Some of the buildings are in active repair. Uniseeians, as well as cadets from the Omega Squadron, help to restore the former splendor of the world, some of whom stand on floating platforms. A cadre of fighters fly overhead in a V shape, seemingly protecting and watching over the people. On the ground, cadets from the Omega Squadron patrol about, and have laser guns at the ready, and some assist the Uniseeians in rebuilding their paradise. Other cadets go around and from futuristic machinery empty fighter remains from both the Bulgata and Earth Empire into hovering dump trucks. We see that Langdon and Jesse are two such cadets assisting the Uniseeians in rebuilding their paradise. The two cadets are busy replacing almost plexiglass like material to patch over some of the scarred and ruptured sections of a rising spire. A plethora of Uniseeian females remain encamped about Jesse while Monafia assists Langdon. JESSE (to Langdon) Hey Langly, you know, after all this is over, I certainly wouldn't mind taking a little R and R in a place like this, having a little extended vacation time, if you know what I mean. Jesse glances from face to face of the Uniseeian females, whose smiles are knowing. JESSE (continuing) Especially when you've got a group like them to keep you company. He smiles. Langdon seems a bit embarrassed. Monafia puts on a small smile. Monafia follows Langdon onto a rising, floating platform, to repair damage done to the spire on a higher level. They strap themselves in, Langdon presses a switch, and they move upward. MONAFIA How long do you think it will be before the Bulgata comes back? LANGDON Hard to say, really. It's been just a little over three days. I would have thought they'd rebound quickly and mount another attack. They don't seem to be the type to take defeat well. They make it to their destination and begin repairing the structure. MONAFIA Whose to say that they won't relent their ambition altogether? Perhaps they've met their match. LANGDON I doubt they'd give up this easily. MONAFIA And yet, as long as I have my prince Langdon protecting my people, with his brave entourage of young warriors, I'm sure they'll never succeed in laying siege to the people of Unisee again. Langdon smiles, as does Monafia. LANGDON Your father has been speaking with Czar Shepard for a very long time. I wonder what they could be discussing. MONAFIA Probably the history associated with our respective worlds. There is--I'm sure--much that our leaders can learn from one another. LANGDON I myself would be interested in knowing a bit of Uniseeian history. Would you teach me some of it? MONAFIA I can take you to the palace library where you can learn about our history, yes. LANGDON Well it's settled, a date then. And after that we can-- MONAFIA --After that we'll just have to find some other means to occupy our time. The two smile at one another as the platform lowers. INT. THE CZAR'S STAR CRUISER, CONFERENCE ROOM The conference room is an elongated area with windows populating its sides and a table at its center. Czar Shepard stands with his arms folded as he listens to Lord Dalaysis expound upon the history of his people. There are two AIDES present sitting in the room, as well as Commander Wecker of Omega Squadron. LORD DALAYSIS So you see, we have not always abided on this world of Unisee. Our ancestors were a barbaric race on a distant planet. However, a benign and galactic superpower came and showed us many things. They taught us how to cure our sick, to restrain from hurting one another, basically they introduced us to peace, as well as shuttled us off to the planet we live on today, Unisee. Even the name of the planet was coined by them, as a picture of what we were to ultimately become as a people: See Unity. We have not seen them in thousands of years. Czar Shepard places his hand to his chin. CZAR SHEPARD (continuing) An interesting story, to say the least. I did find it odd that you Uniseeians speak our Earthly language, but I imagine that this would be the answer to the conundrum. COMMANDER WECKER So this benign race of beings bought people from Earth to Unisee in ages past? Where are they now? We could use that kind of military might in the war that wages on with the Bulgata. LORD DALAYSIS As I have said, we have not heard from them in many millennia. AIDE #1 For all we know, they could be an extinct species. It's best not to rely or base our strategy around factors of which we have no control. CZAR SHEPARD (with arms folded) Indeed. Where were these beings when the Bulgata was busy cutting a swath across the galaxy and enslaving world after world? We will trust in our own military might to quell this crisis. LORD DALAYSIS I very much doubt they'd be able to answer the call even if they are still active in the universe. They were a very peace loving people, as can be evidenced by what they accomplished with the world of Unisee alone. I don't think any of our legends speak of them as a military power. AIDE #2 In any case, we as a people have just been involved with two first contacts within the span of a few days. I don't think we can necessarily rule out the possibility of other military powers in the galaxy that could pose challenges for us in the future. CZAR SHEPARD Yes, we need to prepare for any and all possibilities. Czar Shepard turns and addresses his two aids as he unfolds his arms. CZAR SHEPARD (continuing) Make the necessary preparations for an emergency meeting of High Command on Marune. I want all Academy commanders to attend this meeting. Lord Dalaysis, we appreciate all that you have shared with us. At the very least, you've cleared up some things and elucidated to us that Earth and its colonies are by far not the only power in the universe. LORD DALAYSIS I was glad to be of service. You have saved my people, and you continually watch over them. I will do all that I can to assist you. COMMANDER WECKER At some point I think it'd be a good idea to let Omega Elite in on this bit of information. It seems good to me that at least they know what kind of possibilities might lie before us. CZAR SHEPARD Yes, that sounds like a very good idea, Wecker. However, sleep on it a bit before letting them in on it, so that you can have a chance to internalize it yourself. WECKER As you wish, sire. CZAR SHEPARD Well gentlemen, this concludes our meeting. You are dismissed. Commander Wecker and Lord Dalaysis stand, and head for the exit. Aides 1 and 2 stand and converse back and forth with Czar Shepard before they go. Lord Dalaysis catches up to Wecker. LORD DALAYSIS There is much literature available in the palace library that you could browse concerning the history of our people if you'd like. I'm sure it would give you great insight before letting the others know of it. COMMANDER WECKER Ah, that sounds like an offer I'll take, Lord Dalaysis. I was intrigued by your story afore hand, and having the opportunity to learn more about it, in depth, would be a chance that I would not miss. LORD DALAYSIS Then, I will let my servants know that you are interested, and they will lead you to the library whenever you wish. The two exit the conference room. INT. OMEGA SQUADRON, CONTROL ROOM Acting Commander Reagan steps past the sliding door and heads for the control panel when his attention is arrested by a FEMALE OPERATOR. FEMALE OPERATOR Sir, you're just in time. We've got bogeys comin' and comin' fast. Reagan hustles over to the control panel and radar. REAGAN (continuing) Sound the alarm! INT. DORMS, IRIS' QUARTERS Iris sits alone in her dorm on her bed. IRIS (a beat) Langdon... The sudden buzzing of the alarm snaps her head this way and that, breaking her reverie. FEMALE VOICE (overcast) All cadets report to your ships, immediately. This is not a drill. All cadets report to your ships immediately. She gets up from her bed and walks through the sliding door. She spots cadets, both male and female, hurriedly making their way through the hall. She grabs a young woman by the arm. IRIS What's going on? YOUNG WOMAN I believe it is the Bulgata, they are attacking us. The Young Woman pulls away from Iris and Iris follows after her and others. INT. SHIP PORT - CONTINUOUS A plethora of cadets make their way to their ships. Iris gets strapped in hers and begins flipping a few switches. Her ship and others suddenly begin to hover above ground and a continuous stream of fighters fly out of the ship port. EXT. EXTENDED VIEW OF OMEGA SQUADRON As the fighters exit the ship port they are immediately fired upon by the Bulgata crafts. We watch as Iris follows religiously after a Bulgata craft in free space. The Bulgata fighter does an array of twists and turns to dodge Iris' attempts at taking him down. IRIS Come on, come on... Iris finally gets a clear shot and lets loose a stream of laser fire, completely severing one of the Bulgata fighter's wings in the process. Immediately after this happening, Iris finds herself being chased by two Bulgata fighters. IRIS Can anyone lend a helping hand? I can sure use one right about now. A FEMALE CADET speaks to Iris through her helmet. FEMALE CADET Gimme a moment, Iris. I'm on their tails. Iris continues to weave and bob through the blackness of space. A laser beam scars her wing, but it's not too serious. IRIS Shoot. FEMALE CADET Just one more moment... Finally, a photon torpedo escapes out of the cadets craft and explodes the Bulgata fighter. FEMALE CADET (continuing) I got em! IRIS There's still that other one to deal with. I should be able to take care of this one. Iris banks towards the Omega Squadron and begins to weave and bob throughout the small crevices of the superstructure, all while being followed by the Bulgata fighter. Finally, she cuts a corner and ascends high into the air. The Bulgata fighter continues to maneuver throughout the superstructure and Iris comes down right on top of him and blows him to smithereens. By this time, the Bulgata fighters are the minority and they now begin to pull away. Some cadets follow after them until they get the command from Acting Commander Reagan. We see the inside of Iris' ship and the Female Cadet. REAGAN (through headsets) Let them flee with their tails between their legs, cadets. Report back to the Academy. The fighters begin heading back toward the ship port. INT. OMEGA SQUADRON, SHIP PORT - CONTINUOUS Ships land and hatches fly open. Cadets disembark from their crafts. Iris sees Acting Commander Reagan approaching from the sliding door and makes her way toward him. REAGAN It must have been a feint. The Bulgata probably has bigger plans in store for us. We must stay vigilant. IRIS Commander Reagan, I do not wish to overstep my bounds as a cadet, but I am certain that my companion Langdon Hughes believes that I perished during the attack on Earth. If I could, I would like to at this time be shuttled to the alien planet. Other cadets speak up for their desire to also see Unisee. REAGAN Well, you all approach with this notion at a good time. I've arranged for three dropships of cadets from the Omega Squad to be exchanged with three dropships of cadets on Unisee. Pack your things, you're going to see the alien world. Iris smiles to herself, nameless cadets celebrate in the background. EXT. BULGATA, OUTSIDE CONFINEMENT HOUSE - NIGHT A stream of multicolored and altered faced slaves are being rounded up and escorted by a pocketful of Myrmidions who are equipped with stun guns to a Confinement House. Gindred, Atla, and Wynn are in the midst of that stream. INT. IDENTIFICATION ROOM The slaves are processed via a computer system that records their body structure. The device is similar in structure to a doorway. It is metallic and wide in girth and when a slave stands in between the metallic plating the inside of it lights up and their names and a digital representation of them are relayed on the screen of a computer terminal that a Myrmidion is stationed at to the very side of them. One by one they are arranged in a long and continuous line and walk through the structure. Myrmidions are placed throughout the relatively broad identification room. INT. HOLDING CELLS A Myrmidion leads a very long line of slaves into the sliding door of a level of holding cells. He has a stun gun propped up along his shoulder. The cells are all opened and as the line makes its way to the end of the corridor the Myrmidion turns around and all of the slaves enter into their assigned cells. Shafts of light fall down before the prisoners, barring them in. Gindred Falcos is stationed to a cell to the right of Atla and Wynn, who share a cell. All three slaves stand near the lighted bars and as close to the almost see through wall toward the separate cells as possible as they speak to one another. The lights of the cell level are on. GINDRED How are you two holding up? ATLA Late in the afternoon, we were tasked with preparing a meal for a squad of Myrmidions. The meal was to their liking, and they sent for us with the pretense of congratulating us on a job well done, though they had other things in store. WYNN (downcast) They tried to take advantage of us, and we resisted, and were punished, as they didn't allow us to feed. Gindred looks angry. GINDRED (continuing) I wondered why I couldn't find you as they gathered us all together to be fed. So they are trying to starve you into submission. ATLA I don't think it will last that long, at least I have reason to believe it won't. As we were punished, the Myrmidions managed to find a female slave who served them who was willing, so perhaps they'll overlook our 'insolence'. Atla has a confused look on her face. WYNN She seemed frightened at first, but thought on it for a time, and was escorted off with the Myrmidions. Gindred appears to be in instant reflection. GINDRED (continuing) I see. Listen, the longer you remain here the more you become acquainted with when you need to abide by their demands. The Myrmidions will allow you to get away with some defiance, there's just a way you have to go about doing it. They are not that stolid of a race, from what I have gathered, despite what they may appear to be on the surface. WYNN How long have you been here, Gindred? Gindred looks up at the ceiling and reflects. He then looks to the side of him where Wynn and Alta are. GINDRED (continuing) About seven years. Wynn gasps. GINDRED (continuing) Yes, I know, I've been here a long time. My people were attacked by the Bulgata about that same time. I had--a family. We were separated. I don't know if they reside on this planet in another Confinement House or not. I don't know if I'll ever see them again. Gindred looks downcast. Wynn reflects on his statement. WYNN (softly and downcast) I always thought I'd be reunited with my family. I never once doubted that this would continue and that I'd be a slave for the rest of my life... ATLA We are each other's family now. We have to rely on one another and draw from each other's strength and friendship. Wynn looks up with hope in her eyes. WYNN (continuing) I won't accept this fate. Gindred, you say that the Myrmidions are not as stolid as we perceive. Perhaps we can use that to our advantage. Perhaps we can rally and unite and incite a revolt. GINDRED And how would we go about doing that? We have not weapons to arm ourselves. And if we did manage to succeed, we would be crushed eventually. The Bulgata as a force is entirely too big for just one Confinement House to take on. WYNN I know but--we have to try something. The lights of the cell division turn off during the same time that a humming noise can be heard in the distance. WYNN What's that noise? The three slaves head to the back of their cells and look out of the window of light to see that a very large fleet is heading to the atmosphere. ATLA (wistful) They are rallying, heading for Earth or one of its colonies most likely. A Myrmidion walks past their cells and speaks up. MYRMIDION Lights are out! The trio move toward their beds as we begin to see the higher levels of the Confinement House and more and more slaves starring wonderingly outside of their cell openings. EXT. AERIAL VIEW OF BULGATA FLEET - NIGHT A large and all encompassing fleet are in the beginning stages of departing from Bulgata airspace and heading toward the atmosphere, being led by the biggest one of the bunch, a repaired Intimidator warship. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos, Fedora, Raphsidy, and Illzar watch through the viewing screen as their impressive fleet pull further and further away from Bulgata airspace. Raphsidy commandeers the controls, while Illzar stands near the entrance to the bridge with his arms folded and Tuskans ready. Fedos and Fedora stand on the lower deck of the bridge, below Raphsidy. Their words appear onscreen. Fedos looks on in admiration. FEDOS (continuing) Our first meeting with these, Earth peoples, did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. We were able to wipe out their home planet, and yet, they later beat us into retreat. We will now unleash the full breadth of our forces, and nary a human being will escape. FEDORA (excitedly) They will either submit and become subservient to us, or perish. FEDOS Indeed. Such a sad and misfortunate fate awaits these insolent fools. FEDORA They will see with their own eyes just how impotent they are in the face of such an overwhelming onslaught. By this time, the fleet is orbiting the planet. RAPHSIDY Giving the command for the entering of hyperspace...now. The Intimidator leads the fleet as we watch as they all at once enter into hyperspace and vanish, causing the universe to bend. INT. DELTA SQUADRON INITIATES CENTER - TRAINING FACILITY - MIDDAY Rows upon rows of cadets stand and observe as Initiate Simone Bridges spars with another FEMALE INITIATE. The two are engaged in a fierce martial arts display. The two of course wear protective gear. There are swift kicks that barely miss, punches come within inches, and deft defying leaps and bounds between the two young hopefuls. Finally, after a laborious exposition, Simone puts the Female Initiate on her back with a swift spin kick. The Initiate crashes into the ground with a grunt. Simone offers to pick her up and she accepts. Overseer Jack Hoft has been in a booth adjoining the Training Facility and watching the exploits of his Initiates. The INSTRUCTOR steps forward and Simone and the Female Initiate fall back in line. INSTRUCTOR That's good work, the both of you. Fine fighting indeed. We need to see more of this type of dedication to the arts. When you are on the battlefield and in close quarters with your opponent you will need this kind of discipline. He turns towards Simon. INSTRUCTOR (continuing) Simon? SIMON Yes, instructor? INSTRUCTOR Let's see how you fare against two opponents. Step forth. Simon does so. INSTRUCTOR JASON? MATT? Step forth. The two cadets step forth and stand before their Instructor. Both Jason and Matt appear about the same age as the twins, late teens. Jason is black and has curly hair and Matt is white with red hair and freckles. Both are wiry strong. The Instructor falls back to where the Initiates are and now Jason and Matt stand before Simon. They bow before one another and immediately Jason and Matt charge towards Simon, who does an array of spins, sidesteps, and back flips to avoid being hit. Jason ploughs towards Simon alone and Simon back-flip-kicks him, knocking him to the ground. Matt comes charging and the two engage in an exchange of punches, sure kicks, and avoidance maneuvers. Soon, Jason returns to the fray and Simon finds himself fighting off the two of them, managing himself quite well to say the least. Jason punches Simon in the stomach the same time that Simon punches him in the face, and the both of them fall to the ground, though Simon flips back up. Matt comes rushing towards Simon in a takedown maneuver and he flips entirely over him, causing Matt to very nearly fall into the ground. Simon now comes running up behind Matt and flying-kicks him a good deal away from him. Jason returns to the fray and grabs Simon from behind in a choke hold. Simon tries to get out of the hold, but is finding it difficult to release himself. Matt comes running up toward the two of them, Simon sees this, grabs Jason from behind him, and tosses him over his head into Matt, the two crashing into one another. The Instructor blows a whistle, calling for a halt to the action. INSTRUCTOR (continuing) Good, exceptional work, Simon. Jason? Matt? The two stand at attention. INSTRUCTOR (continuing) There was a reason I chose you. Not just to test Simon's skill, but also so you can see how far you need to go. You two will have to work extra hard if you want to achieve Simon's level of fidelity, and in so doing make it into Delta Squadron. Both Matt and Jason seem deflated, Matt drooping his shoulders and Jason shaking his head. INSTRUCTOR (continuing) All right, Initiates. That will wrap up today's lessons. You are dismissed. The Instructor heads for the adjoined booth where Hoft is. Some Initiates begin to huddle in little groups and speak amongst themselves while others move toward a far wall where everyone's duffle bags are lined. Simon, Simone, Jason, and Matt huddle together amongst themselves. Jason speaks to no one in particular. JASON (downcast) Man, I don't know if I have what it takes. I don't think I'm good enough to make cadetship at Delta Squadron. SIMONE This is only your second term, right? You haven't even been here the length of the standard two year preliminaries, the both of you. Matt places his hands on his side. MATT (continuing) Yeah, but it's like we're being pulled through the path of most resistance. It's hard living up to the standards of instructors like him. JASON (towards Simone) And with an Overseer like Hoft, and Commander A.P. Holton taking time out of his busy schedule every term just to check up on us, I don't know how much more leeway I'll be given personally. SIMON Come on guys, it can't be that bad. Simone and I have been here-- MATT (frantically) --Exaclty! This is you guys first term. You haven't even completed an entire semester yet. Just wait. I swear. At the end you'll be wishing you were back home playing VIRTUAREALITY STATION with a few buds. Jason and I started out great at first, but all this preparatory work just to make it into the Academy has taken its toll. Simon and Simone exchange worried glances with one another. Simon then turns towards the thinning crowd and speaks. SIMON (continuing) I say, things will manage to work themselves out one way or the other. For the all of us. Now, we should get going. It's lunchtime. I don't know about any of you three, but I've built up quite the appetite. Jason and Matt labor towards the wall where their duffle bags are and mumble to themselves. Simon and Simone exchange glances once more and head after them. EXT. UNISEE, SKY VIEW NEAR PALACE DISTRICT - DUSK The Czar's Star Cruiser towers over the multicolored palace district. INT. THE CZAR'S STAR CRUISER, CONFERENCE ROOM Commander Wecker is explaining to select members of Omega Elite what was divulged to him and Czar Shepard concerning the origin of the Uniseeian people. Langdon and Jesse sit beside one another on the elongated table while other nameless members fill up the seats. Wecker does not sit. COMMANDER WECKER I say all that to say this, there was a precursor race that shuttled these English speaking peoples from Earth and situated them here on Unisee. JESSE (in shock) Wait a minute--you mean to say, that a race of super beings came to Earth and bought humans to Unisee in an effort to build a peaceful society? COMMANDER WECKER In my reading, this is what I have uncovered, as well as what Lord Dalaysis himself has shared with me. Langdon appears in reflection. LANGDON (continuing) That answers a lot of our questions...It didn't make sense that the people of Unisee look and speak the way we do, despite the in born ability of telepathy. But what I don't understand is, where are these people now? Why haven't they attempted to halt the advance of the Bulgata in any way? It doesn't make sense. COMMANDER WECKER This is not addressed in Uniseeian literature. Perhaps the Bulgata has enslaved them. Perhaps there was a cataclysm on their home planet, a problem that they could not find a solution for, and perhaps it happened so suddenly and violently that the majority of their race did not escape. A MALE ELITE MEMBER speaks up. MALE ELITE MEMBER How could they just leave a planet and people defenseless? If they were indeed as knowing as the Uniseeians believe them to be, surely they had to be aware that there were dangers in the universe. COMMANDER WECKER From what I have read, this was also not addressed in the literature. It seems probable however that their influence extended beyond the realms of their own worlds, as evidenced by what they did with the Uniseeian people. I would also imagine that being as peaceful and benevolent a race as they were would make them somewhat naive when you consider the grand scheme of things. The members of Omega Elite seem to internalize that news. COMMANDER WECKER (continuing) I have discovered a great many myths--I guess you could call them myths, about these forerunners. They were called by the Uniseeians The Lightbringers, Those Who Open Blinded Eyes, The Peacemakers, and many other descriptors. They were said to be telepathic, like what we know of the Uniseeians, gifted in all realms of science, and capable of what we'd ourselves call magic. JESSE That's one advanced species. LANGDON Perhaps they awakened some kind of hidden potential inside of the humans who were relocated to Unisee, and that's where the telepathy came from. COMMANDER WECKER (in reflection) That's plausible. At least from what I have read, I did not come across when telepathy arose in the Uniseeians, or how it came about. But what you put forth seems likely. Well, in any case, this is what I wanted to share with at least high level members of Omega Elite. Everyone else will find out at some point, but I just felt it prudent that you all have some idea as to the kinds of possibilities that exist in this universe of ours. JESSE Are you saying that you think that it's possible that this race could assist us? Wecker shakes his head and folds his arms. COMMANDER WECKER (continuing) No, Czar Shepard has concluded that we cannot rely on this race to aid us. There's just too many variables, such as whether they are still an existing people or not. They could be situated on the other side of the cosmos for all we know, traveling to world after world, spreading their philosophy across the universe. Langdon addresses the members of his troupe. LANGDON (continuing) How would we go about locating them first and foremost? By the time we established contact, the Bulgata may have enslaved us. It's best if we focus on trying to stay the hand of the Bulgata, and defeating them. We can't rely on beings who may or may not ever show up again. Wecker smiles COMMANDER WECKER (continuing) That's exactly what Czar Shepard said. Langdon smiles. COMMANDER WECKER (continuing) Well, I did not want to keep you all too long. I guess you can retire for the night. If you like, you can read up on the forerunners in the palace library. I have gained permission from Lord Dalaysis himself, servants will assist you. You are dismissed. Everyone stands. Jesse speaks to Langdon. JESSE Well, Langly, that's was some kinda story. I think I'll make the trek to the library and find out more about it. Who knows when we'd come into contact with these people. Jesse pulls away from him. LANGDON (reaching out) Don't forget, Jesse, we still have rebuilding duties to attend to bright and early tomorrow morning. Jesse stops at the door and turns. JESSE (continuing) Don't worry, I'll be there bright and early. I wouldn't miss hanging out with those Uniseeian females for the world. He stops and considers halfway out of the door. JESSE (continuing) Or several worlds. Langdon smiles, as does Jesse. Jesse leaves. Langdon sighs with a droop of his shoulders. He heads toward the exit of the conference room and heads through the lighted hall with his head bent low in reflection when he raises it after a time and beholds Iris. He stops in mid-stride, as does Iris when she lays eyes on him. LANGDON Iris? IRIS Langdon! They rush toward one another and embrace, both shedding tears. LANGDON Oh, Iris--I--I thought you were-- Iris puts a finger to his lip. IRIS (continuing) Shh! Don't say it. The two look into one another's eyes, Langdon wipes the tears away from her face. He begins speaking frantically. LANGDON I don't understand--the Bulgata, they--the laser beam--it--it destroyed everything-- IRIS (a pause) Yes, the--attack on Earth was singularly the darkest day we have ever known. Countless lives were lost, and the planet was ravaged, but--it wasn't as devastating as most originally thought. While the Bulgata did manage to kill a vast majority of surface dwellers, everyone underground and underwater survived. Iris laughs heartily, tears return. Langdon laughs. LANGDON I just can't believe I'm able to hold you in my arms again. They embrace. LANGDON (continuing) Why didn't anybody tell me. We need to celebrate. I've--I've fretted so much over the thought of losing you--you have no idea. The two hold hands and smile into one another's eyes. Their reverie is suddenly broken. MONAFIA (uncertainly) Langdon? Langdon turns around to face a tilted head Monafia. He then looks at Iris and again back towards Monafia. LANGDON (continuing) Mona--Monafia. This--this is the one I was telling you about, the woman who went to Earth in my place during the attack by the Bulgata. She's alive! Langdon remains looking towards Monafia. The expression on Iris's face looks like concern. Monafia pauses for a time and advances. MONAFIA (with a bow) I--I apologize. Where are my manners. My name is Monafia, Monafia Dalaysis. IRIS (stammering) I'm--Iris Grisham. It's--very nice meeting you. MONAFIA Likewise. Langdon doesn't seem to notice their uneasiness. LANGDON Monafia, I was just telling Iris that we needed to celebrate, in light of finding out she still lived. Would you like to join us? Monafia lowers her head and raises it after a time. MONAFIA (continuing) Yes--I--I would like that very much. LANGDON Great, I knew you would. You came just in time, Iris. The retainers in the palace will be serving dinner soon. Lord Dalaysis, Monafia's father, and a great many of the Omega Squadron will be there. Well, we should probably get going. MONAFIA Yes, you are right. We shouldn't keep them waiting. Langdon grabs Iris by the hand and leads her down the hall, while Monafia hesitates. Langdon turns around and sees that she is not following. She just stares longingly after them. LANGDON Come on, Monafia. What are you waiting for? MONAFIA I was just--lost in thought, that's all. I'm happy for you. Langdon smiles. Monafia catches up to them and they head down the lighted hall. EXT. OUTSIDE UNISEEIAN PALACE - NIGHT The Uniseeian palace stands mightily in the night sky. The huge double doors swing open with a creak and Czar Shepard, being accompanied by Aides 1 and 2 as well as Lord Dalaysis, who himself has an entourage of escorts, appears. They talk as they walk down the great steps. CZAR SHEPARD I am sorry to say, Lord Dalaysis, but I must take leave of you this night. It is imperative that I meet with other high level officials of the colonies, so that we can fully come to terms with the task that now lies before us. Lord Dalaysis instantly reflects. LORD DALAYSIS (raising head) I see. Then, it was an honor to have made your acquaintance. I am most grateful for the protection you have bestowed upon my people. Shepard nods. CZAR SHEPARD (continuing) Rest assured that for as long as the conflict remains, we will keep watch over Unisee. And--I think--it would do well to establish some sort of trade between our two civilizations. AIDE #1 I will personally draft up proposals for your perusal when we return to Marune, sire. At this time, Commander Wecker has made his way to the foot of the steps from a stationary dropship. Langdon, Iris, and Monafia also exit. COMMANDER WECKER (to Shepard) We are prepared to launch whenever you give the order, sire. Shepard nods. He then turns towards Lord Dalaysis. He extends his hand. CZAR SHEPARD (continuing) May peace forever favor you and your people. Lord Dalaysis looks on curiously. He then takes his hand. LORD DALAYSIS (continuing) And you as well as yours. Shepard puts on a smile, turns, and is followed by Commander Wecker and Aides 1 and 2. They walk past Langdon, Monafia, and Iris and board the dropship. It hums, hovers, and flies into the ship port of the large star cruiser that is the Czar's Star Crusier. Langdon, Iris, and Monafia approach an engrossed Lord Dalaysis and his administrators, who were watching Czar Shepard's departure. MONAFIA Father, has the meal been prepared? LORD DALAYSIS (with an effort) Yes, my daughter. Come, let us all dine together. Langdon smiles, and the all of them trail after Lord Dalaysis. INT. UNISEEIAN PALACE, GREAT HALL - CONTINUOUS The Great Hall of the Uniseeian Palace is painted white with high windows along the walls and murals below them, presumably depicting the exploits of the forerunners who delivered the Uniseeian people from obscurity. There are elongated tables spaced evenly and the hall is capable of holding a good two hundred people, though at this time about half of that capacity is filled. Uniseeians--both male and female--play soft music in the background as members of the Omega Squadron Academy and other Uniseeians await their meals. Langdon sits in between Monafia and Iris, Lord Dalaysis sits across with two aides flanking him. Iris takes the splendor of the place and atmosphere in. IRIS (looking around) This is all so--wonderful. LORD DALAYSIS You have done for us what we could not do for ourselves. We are repaying the debt as best we can. LANGDON Just wait until you taste the food. They have an amazing variety of delicacies here. Many of us have also been allowed to rest in palace suites. A bevy of servants now begin to place meals before the many tables. They start with Lord Dalaysis and Monafia and work their way from them to the rest of the members at the table. At this time, Jesse makes his way hurriedly through the hall and takes a seat next to Monafia. Throughout this entire time, Lord Dalaysis speaks in hushed tones to his aides. JESSE (continuing) Sorry about being late and all. I was kinda busy reading up on the history of the Uniseeians. A servant places a meal in front of him and he immediately begins eating. LANGDON Jesse, let me introduce you to my companion. This is Iris Grisham. Iris, this is Jesse Faundoo. The two exchange nods and Iris smiles. LANGDON (continuing) Iris was on Earth when the Bulgata attacked. But she was underwater, and everyone underground or underwater survived the attack. JESSE (in shock) I can't believe it-- IRIS (happily) Yes, it is a miracle. You wouldn't think it to look at the surface of the planet, but a great many of Earth's populace survived the attack. JESSE Looks like the Bulgata isn't as all powerful as they originally thought. I mean, they virtually wipe out Earth, and people stillsurvived. LANGDON Yes, and they'll pay for the damage and death they've already caused. Too many lives have been lost. They've picked the wrong people to bully. Langdon and Iris begin speaking to one another in hushed tones. After a time, Monafia's sullen nature overtakes her. MONAFIA Langdon, perhaps tomorrow I can show you more of the history of the Uniseeian people. LANGDON Sure. Commander Wecker has already given me some information on it, but I wouldn't mind learning more. Iris, you wouldn't believe the story behind these people. I know it must seem odd that they speak English and all. IRIS Well, that does seem odd, if not a bit unbelieving. Why don't you tell me. LANGDON No, no. It would be better if someone with more grasp on that history shared it, like Monafia. MONAFIA I could share with you also about the history of our people, Iris, if you wish to know it. IRIS I would be very much interested in it, Monafia, thank you. No thanks to you, Langdon. LANGDON What did I do? Monafia's plate is three quarters of the way full. She looks sullen and distraught. She stands. MONAFIA I'm not very hungry. Father, if I may be excused. She walks away without waiting for his reply. Lord Dalaysis looks confused, as does Langdon, Jesse, and the Aides, while Iris reflects inwardly, as the soft music plays on. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION, EXTENDED VIEW OF DELTA SQUADRON The colossal Delta Squadron Academy sends out scouting ships that scour the perimeter of Dorridion. INT. DELTA SQUADRON, TRAINING FACILITY Lined rows of cadets go through the warmups as their MALE INSTRUCTOR leads them. INT. CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS Students sit at their desks quietly, looking over a touch sensitive GUI that's built into the desk, while their FEMALE TEACHER paces about the forefront of the classroom. INT. MESS HALL - CONTINUOUS Some students stand in line, waiting to serve themselves, while others sit and converse with their peers. EXT. SPACE, EXTENDED VIEW OF DELTA SQUADRON A MALE CADET leads a FEMALE CADET through several flying exercises. They continue to pull away from the safety of Delta Squadron, and from the planet Dorridion. MALE CADET That's it. You're doing great. Here, follow my lead. The Male Cadet embraces a method of boost and his fighter begins to fly further and further away from Delta Squadron. The Female Cadet trails after him. They now enter into an asteroid field, and continually maneuver about the small to giant rocks. The Female Cadet puts on a smile and turns on a laugh. FEMALE CADET (continuing) JONATHAN, I am getting better. I couldn't do this not six days ago, and now look at me. JONATHAN What I tell ya? Keep it steady. We're almost on the other side. The Female Cadet notices a blip on her radar. A red dot appearing on radar detect ability. She then looks more intently and notices that many red dots are appearing on the radar. She gasps. FEMALE CADET Jonathan, I think we're being attacked. We have to warn Delta Squad-- JONATHAN --I know--shi--Pull up! Try to make it out of the asteroid field. They're right in front of us. FEMALE CADET (whimpering) I don't think I can make it. JONATHAN You have to. I'm not leaving you behind. The Female Cadet's face becomes one of resolve and she follows Jonathan up and up into the asteroid field. Sweat begins to bead on her face. She looks as if she is exerting a lot of energy to make it out of the field. Finally the two of them make it out and as they begin to level their fighters towards Delta Squadron the swarm of the Bulgata can be seen in the distance. Great capital ships and many fighters, the Intimidator stationed in the midst of it all, with an endless sea of fighters and capital ships trailing afterwards. Both Jonathan and the Female Cadet look on in horror, and then become fired upon by a few Bulgata fighters who have moved up in the advance. JONATHAN We have to warn Delta Squadron. Jonathan fumbles with turning on a few switches and then speaks through his headset, all while avoiding laser fire from the Bulgata fighters. JONATHAN (frantically) This is Jonathan Kent of DELTA ELITE. A massive Bulgata armada is heading straight for Delta Squadron and Dorridion. I repeat: this is Jonathan Kent of Delta Elite. A massive-- Just then the Female Cadet screams as her fighter explodes into smithereens. JONATHAN JEA-NETTE! INT. DELTA SQUADRON CONTROL ROOM The MALE OPERATOR has heard enough of Jonathan's message. He turns towards the ACTING COMMANDER. MALE OPERATOR Commander, the Bulgata, they are attacking us! ACTING COMMANDER (in anger) Sound the alarm! INT. DELTA SQUADRON, TRAINING FACILITY The day's activities have largely come to an end as Cadets make their way to their duffle bags when their reveries are broken with the sound of the alarm. FEMALE'S VOICE All cadets report to your ships immediately. This is not a drill. All cadets report to your ships immediately. Chaos ensues as the cadets scramble to get to the ship port. INT. CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS The students in the classroom rush out of their seats and head through either one of the two doors which lead into the hallway. INT. MESS HALL - CONTINUOUS Students in the mess hall vault upwards from eating their meals to get to the ship port. INT. SHIP PORT - CONTINUOUS Hoards upon Hoards of cadets make their way to their ships and into the very large ship port, the alarm still buzzing in the background. We watch as nameless cadets flip a few switches and their ships begin to hover above ground a bit. Many ships then fly out of the ship port in a continuous manner. EXT. SPACE, EXTENDED VIEW OF DELTA SQUADRON The many ships pour out of the wide mouth of the ship port and head toward the vast Bulgata fleet. Jonathan's ship has by now made it back to Delta Squadron and with a handful of other cadets were able to repel the few Bulgata fighters who pulled ahead. He speaks through his headset to the others. JONATHAN Woo-whoo! Let's give em a welcome party they'll never forget, boys. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos and Fedora look on through the observation screen as Raphsidy awaits his orders. They continue to speak in the alien tongue. FEDOS Send several squadrons of fighters towards their outpost. I want to assail the planet before we are done. Fedora hums and smiles a wicked smile towards her husband. FEDORA (continuing) Hmm--this will be a monumental victory for us. The children of our race will extol generation upon generation of how we vanquished the impudence of the Earth forces, how this battle was key to making them subservient to us. FEDOS (with a wry smile) Indeed. EXT. EXTENDED VIEW OF DELTA SQUADRON - CONTINUOUS We see that Jonathan is leading a band of fighters into the Bulgata forces. Several other bands are stationed at varying points around and about him and they form a grouping of fighters. A band of Bulgata fighters fire into them and they all split, each going their separate ways but as a whole miniature unit. JONATHAN Let's show em the superior air power of the Delta Squadron, boys. Yee-haw! Jonathan flies alone in free space after a Bulgata fighter, in the very midst of a titanic battle waging between the Bulgata forces and Delta Squadron. At times he seems to have the fighter in his cross hairs but the Myrmidion makes last second changes to his piloting which prevent it. Finally, Jonathan has him where he wants him and sends a continuous stream of laser fire that sends the Bulgata fighter's ship parts every-which-a-way. EXT. SPACE, NEAR CRUISER HOLDINGS - CONTINUOUS A gigantic sliding door opens on the superstructure of Delta Squadron and Star Cruisers begin pouring out two by two. They are equipped with laser cannons on the exterior of their structures and as soon as they make it out of the Academy they begin firing on unsuspecting Bulgata fighters. EXT. SPACE, IN THE HEART OF THE BATTLE - CONTINUOUS After taking out a Bulgata fighter, Jonathan notices that the Star Cruisers are departing from the safety of the docks. The Acting Commander speaks through the headset. ACTING COMMANDER Let's get some assistance for our capital ships. We don't want the Bulgata taking out our heavy artillery. JONATHAN I'm on it, commander. Wingmen. Pointmen. Form up. Some fighters disengage themselves from the chaos of battle and form bands of fighters and head for the capital ships, some of which have by now reached the edges of the battle and are being fired upon by Bulgata fighters. INT. INTIDMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos and Fedora look on while Raphsidy relays commands to the fleet. Illzar stands to the exit of the bridge with his arms folded, a laser gun at his thigh, and Tuskans to the ready. The words they speak appear onscreen. FEDORA We have held off our advance for too long. Let us strike now while their capital ships are orienting themselves. Raphsidy, send an arm of our forces toward their command post. RAPHSIDY As you wish, my mistress. EXT. SPACE, NEAR THE BULGATA ADVANCE Two capital ships disengage from the Bulgata contingent along with a plethora of fighters and head toward Delta Squadron. Jonathan as well as his wingmen notices this in their fighters. JONATHAN They're heading for the Academy. We'll have to take them head on, boys. This arm of the Delta Squadron has three capital ships flanked with fighters in comparison. However, the Bulgata forces have a good deal more fighters. The two forces engage, with the ships cannons from each contingent taking out those fighters who went ahead of the advance. Jonathan looks around in his fighter and notices that their support is growing thin, though he still has his wingmen intact. JONATHAN We're losing em left and right. We've gotta protect the Academy. In one last bastion of hope the fighters as well as the cruisers take out a good deal of the Bulgata forces. This microcosm of the battle tells the tale for the whole conflict as well, with Delta Squadron losing too many fighters to hold off the Bulgata advance for too much longer. Jonathan has a resigned look on his face as he gets the news from the Acting Commander. ACTING COMMANDER That's it. We can't hold them off any longer. Depart for Dorridion for a last stand. INT. DELTA SQUADRON, LIGHTED HALL The words 'evacuate, evacuate' bellow on as many instructors and other Academy leaders rush for the ship port. INT. DELTA SQUADRON, SHIP PORT The Acting Commander with several other high level dignitaries as well as many instructors rush for drop ships. The ships hum, hover, and fly out of the port towards the planet in a continuous stream. EXT. SPACE, INSIDE JONATHAN'S SHIP Jonathan swears under his breath as the remaining fighters depart and head for the blue planet. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos and Fedora look on excitedly through the observation screen as the Delta Squadron fighters head for Dorridion. Fedos has a gleam in his eye as he says the following words with a motion of his arm, signifying an all encompassing area: FEDOS (continuing) Destroy it. All of it. EXT. SPACE, EXTENDED VIEW OF DELTA SQUADRON The Bulgata fighters as well as the capital ships converge on the colossal Delta Squadron and let loose unwavering fire as the straggling fighters in the background are allowed to escape to Dorridion. EXT. DORRIDION, SPRAWLING METROPOLIS - NOON The sun is at the height of its power and reflects brilliantly off the buildings of the metropolis, which seem to extend beyond the clouds. It is like a city that goes on without end. A ship flies high in the sky, giving off an alarm that blares, letting people know that war is coming. People hurriedly make their way to their homes on the ground as well as in their flying vehicles. EXT. DELTA SQUADRON INITIATES CENTER #1 - CONTINUOUS Chaos reigns throughout the Initiate Center, with young people running to get to the assembly hall. INT. ASSEMBLY HALL The assembly hall is big enough to hold around five hundred people and has a balcony. Commander A. P. Holton and Overseer Jack Hoft stand on the stage and delay speaking until the last of the stragglers make it inside. They both have headset microphones which broadcast their voices across the entire hall. Simon, Simone, Jason, and Matt sit right beside one another. COMMANDER HOLTON We're going to have to begin. We don't have any time as it is. Hoft? Jack pauses for a second and considers, then he moves to the forefront of the podium. JACK About an hour ago, a large Bulgata fleet attacked Delta Squadron, and the cadets were unable to hold them back. They are now heading here, for Dorridion. The murmuring of the Initiates seemingly cannot be silenced. Simon, Simone, Jason, and Matt all look at one another worriedly. JACK (continuing) We have gathered you all here together because you as well as the stragglers who fought on behalf of the Academy and traditional soldiers will serve as this planet's last line of defense. The murmuring returns. Holton steps forward, speaking over the tumult. COMMANDER HOLTON We have broadcast transmission since it was discovered that Delta Squadron was under attack. Since the attack took even us by surprise, it is not expected that all of the citizens will hear the message of the invasion. JACK We are splitting you up in tasks. Some of you will pilot fighters, while others will patrol the streets and insure that the Bulgata does not harvest the planet. COMMANDER HOLTON We have very much been in the dark throughout the inception of this conflict, but we have some idea of how the Bulgata operates. We know that they will try to shuttle the planet's citizens and use them as pawns to increase their military might. We know this from the conflict that was spawned with Unisee. JACK We understand that you all are affrighted. But you must also understand that you are this planet's only hope. Jack looks at Holton, who then turns his glance at the sea of Initiates. COMMANDER HOLTON We have already divided up the lot. You are to report to your dorms and access your computer terminals. Emails have been sent. You will of course be supplied with the necessary equipment. We have enough to go around for everyone at this Initiate Center. JACK That is all. You all are dismissed. For the sake of Dorridion, keep in mind that you are the planet's, and perhaps humanity's, only hope. The Initiates stand and begin heading for their dorms. EXT. SKY VIEW OVER INITIATES CENTER #1 - CONTINUOUS The multi tiered white structure of Initiate Center #1 comes into view as the members from the Academy have largely made it to Dorridion. They are akin to a medium sized armada. We are now inside of Jonathan's ship. He as well as everyone else gets instruction from the Acting Commander. ACTING COMMANDER Holton wants some of you cadets to remain stationed here, to assist the Initiates at this center. Others of you are being asked to shuttle across the planet to other centers. Teams Blue, Green, and Black, you are to remain. Teams Yellow, Orange, and Red, head toward Initiate Center 2. White, Gray, and Scarlet you are to be stationed at Initiate Center 3. Alright cadets, let's get moving. The different teams consisting of fighters as well as star cruisers splinter off and begin heading in their different directions. Jonathan remains stationed here. INT. INITIATE CENTER #1, DORM AREA - CONTINUOUS Simon hurriedly makes his way through the lighted hall of the dorm area, swimming through a sea of Initiates. He finally gets to his dorm and places his hand on a hand print scanner and the doors slide open before him. He makes his way to his desk and types on his keyboard for a brief moment and a window pops open showing him which task he is assigned. He stands and begins heading back from whence he came. He pauses a moment and can see Simone making her way towards him. After much jostling they make it towards one another and begin speaking over the commotion. SIMONE I'm assigned to patrol the metropolis. SIMON (pausing) I'm--assigned fighter duty. They stand where they are as everyone continues to pass by them, saddened by their soon to be separation, and by what it can entail. INT. UNISEEIAN PALACE, HALL OUTSIDE MONAFIA'S ROOM - MORNING Light spills in through the tall windows of the hall. Langdon passes by a Uniseeian SERVANT WOMAN. She smiles at him as he passes, as does he. He looks back toward the way he came and then softly knocks on Monafia's door. She speaks. MONAFIA Come in. Langdon opens the door and steps inside. The room is designed with an extravagance of beauty, brilliantly bright white and pink colors are arranged in designs about the room. It is like a microcosm of the designs of the Uniseeian structures. Monafia sits at a wood carved desk with a mirror mounted above it and a high chair with its back colored in red. She is brushing her very long hair as she turns and sees Langdon. He approaches, but she says nothing. LANGDON Iris and I were wondering if you were still going to instruct us in Uniseeian history. Now would be a pretty good time. We've already done a bit of remodeling earlier this morning, so if you're still-- Langdon let's the remaining of his remark hang in the air and looks towards Monafia with expectancy. She doesn't glance towards him though. She sighs after the first pause. MONAFIA (continuing) Perhaps--perhaps it would be best if you allowed some one other than me to instruct you. I wouldn't--I wouldn't want to interfere. Langdon looks confused. LANGDON (continuing) Interfere? How would you be interfering in anything? Monafia considers. Langdon takes a step closer towards her. MONAFIA (continuing) I--see the way you look at her. And I--can imagine the way she makes you feel. LANGDON (considering) Is--is that why you left last night? Because of Iris? Monafia looks towards him for only the second time. MONAFIA You didn't know? Langdon puts a hand to his head. LANGDON (continuing) I--didn't. I guess I was still too excited to know that she still lived. MONAFIA She obviously means a lot to you. LANGDON (considering) Well--I love her. Monafia looks downcast. MONAFIA (continuing) I thought that was how you felt about her. I shall--leave you alone now. Langdon advances closer to Monafia and stretches out his hand. LANGDON (continuing) No--wait. It's not like how you are thinking. She and I have never been romantically involved. I've just--known her for a very long time. Monafia looks up into Langdon's eyes, as hope seemingly reintroduces itself unto her. MONAFIA (continuing) You--haven't? Langdon shakes his head. Monafia stands and rushes towards Langdon and they embrace. Tears come down Monafia's face. Langdon wipes them away. MONAFIA (continuing) Oh--Langdon. I was so frightened that I was going to lose you. They embrace once more as Langdon runs his hand down Monafia's hair wearing a look of concern. EXT. DORRIDION, FRONT OF INITIATE CENTER #1 - MIDDAY The front of the Initiate Center is wide and expansive, allowing for much room for many dropships. Initiates equipped with rifled laser guns propped up in their hands are boarding those dropships that will patrol the planet for any sign of Myrmidions harvesting Dorridions. Simone and freckle-faced-red-haired-Matt are heading to one such dropship. They board and strap themselves in as the dropship, along with several others, lifts off, all while being escorted by fighters, and head for the Metropolis, which can be seen in the distance. EXT. DORRIDION, BACK OF INITIATE CENTER #1 - CONTINUOUS A sea of fighters are lined up in the back of the Initiate Center. Simon and Jason rush towards two ships that are beside one another and board. Several ships take off before either Simon or Jason have had a chance to flip a few switches and enter hover mode. After doing so, they head toward the destination of units Blue, Green, and Black, and with all considered and all ships together the host of which are transformed into a formidable fighting force. Overseer Jack Hoft speaks through their headsets. HOFT Alright Initiates, listen up. Think back to times in which we staged mock training exercises. Form up in those point men and wingmen assignments. Everyone, move out. Simon speaks through his headset. SIMON Jason, GARNET, GREGORY, WILLIAM, form up. The fighters come to Simon's side. Similarly, fighters converge around other point men and the newly formed fleet begin heading toward the atmosphere. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION - CONTINUOUS The large and impressive Bulgata fleet has now made it to within atmospheric range of Dorridion. The fleet moves ever closer, plowing through a cloudless sky. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Raphsidy is using what is called by the Bulgata the DEEP SCANNER, a devise the Bulgata use to probe the universe looking for new targets. He pulls up video of the Dorridion world for Fedos and Fedora's perusal. They look on through the observation screen as he shows the architecture of the planet, video which shows how populous the world is, and its technological progress. Again, their words appear onscreen. RAPHSIDY As you can see, it's a very populated world. It will provide many an able bodied worker for use on Bulgata. FEDORA Yes, you were right, Raphsidy. This planet and its people will serve our designs most excellently. FEDOS Have you discovered where they are mobilizing? RAPHSIDY Through the Deep Scanner I have uncovered three places which they call 'Initiate Centers.' These areas will spawn the last of the planet's resistance. FEDOS Splinter off portions of the armada. Send attack forces towards these outposts. RAPHSIDY As you wish, Lord Fedos. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION - CONTINUOUS Three sections of the Bulgata armada pull away from the main contingent of forces and head toward three separate destinations, sizable divisions of the invading forces. The rest of the military force remains stationary. EXT. ORBIT OVER WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS The newly formed Dorridion fleet flies ever higher over the planet Dorridion. Simon leads his wingmen through a thick cloud filled sky. There is very little visibility. We see the insides of their ships as Simon and his wingmen speak to one another through their headsets. Garnet is a female. JASON (thoughtful) I never thought I'd make it into Delta Squadron. And now here I am fighting beside cadets in defense of my home planet. SIMON This is my home too. I'm not about to let the Bulgata run roughshod here. This world means too much to me. GREGORY We'll rip em a new one, guys. They begin to leave the thick clouds behind. GARNET Do you boys see what I see? WILLIAM (in shock) That's them. That's the Bulgata. This contingent of forces which broke away is vast indeed. Fighters and capital ships in the distance bespeckle the blue sky. Overseer Jack Hoft speaks to the Initiates. JACK Don't be intimidated by them, young ones. Think on a mother, or a father, or a sister, those people you wish to protect. Whatever it takes to keep you alive. Our ideals are superior to theirs. They fight for enslavement, in support of tyranny. We fight in the name of freedom. The distance between the Bulgata and Dorridions shortens ever the more. During that time we see the faces of Gregory, William, Garnet, Jason, Jonathan, and Simon in that order. Finally the fighters from the two armadas converge on one another and begin firing. EXT. DORRIDION, SKY VIEW OF SPRAWLING BUSINESS DISTRICT - CONTINUOUS The fighters continue to escort the many dropships, scouring the perimeter of the business district. The buildings here are not constructed at heights sickness inducing like the ones in the metropolis. Simone and Matt sit across from one another as the wind coming from the open landing blows through their hair. The MALE PILOT speaks through a PA system from the cockpit. MALE PILOT We've got Bulgata spotted in the ORMANDY DISTRICT. Steady yourselves. We'll be there shortly. Simone and Matt glance toward one another. MATT You ready for this? SIMONE About as ready as I'm gonna be. MATT (pausing) Promise me something, Simone. SIMONE What, Matt? MATT If we make it out of this alive, you'll go out on a date with me. Simone smiles. SIMONE (continuing) I'll think about it, Matt. Matt considers. MATT (continuing) Well, that was more than I thought I was good for, so I'll take it. The pilot speaks again through the PA system. MALE PILOT Brace yourselves, we're coming in for a landing. The dropship shakes and quivers from a rough landing in a four way intersection. The Initiates file out of the dropship while other Initiates file out of a handful of different dropships and hustle down the desolate streets. Hover cars are strewn about haphazardly in the streets. In the distance many Myrmidions can be seen marching through the street in rank and file. Above and in the distance Bulgata fighters arrive. The Initiates scatter. Some hide behind parked hover vehicles while others hug tall buildings in the Intersection. Simone and Matt stay together to the side of a relatively tall building. The Bulgata at the forefront of the advance let loose laser fire on the Initiates and they return fire. EXT. DORRIDION, BATTLE OVER WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS The battle between the two forces rages on in the blue sky, with fighters from both armadas falling explosively to the ground. Simon positions himself in the hunt for a Bulgata fighter. The Myrmidion does an array of twists and careens this way and that as he avoids falling into Simon's cross hairs. Simon finally gets a clear shot and sends a photon torpedo the Myrmidions way, exploding his craft. SIMON Woooo-whooo! That's my sixth one! GARNET I've got four. JASON (in distress) I'm--being trailed hard. Simon looks at his radar. SIMON I see you on radar. I'm on it. Simon u-turns his way through the sky and avoids the chaos of battle as he makes his way to Jason's assailant. Soon he sees the Myrmidion trailing Jason like a shadow. SIMON I need to get a clear shot. Dip evasively towards the planet. Jason dips his craft straight downward and continues to sway this way and that to avoid laser fire. Simon at times gets the Myrmidion within his cross hairs but he averts disaster. Finally Simon gets a clear shot and sends unrelenting laser fire the Myrmidions way, taking out a wing and sending the fighter spinning towards the wooded area. JASON Thanks, Simon. I owe you one. SIMON Don't mention it. Let's get back to the battle. The two head back to the pandemonium of aerial combat. Jonathan flies his fighter expertly through the bedlam, taking out Myrmidions left and right. He speaks through his headset. JONATHAN I bet they didn't expect this kind of resistance after the Academy fell, boys. Let's keep it coming. A MALE CADET speaks through his headset. MALE CADET As long as no more Bulgata show up, we should be ok. INT. INTIDMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos and Fedora look on through the observation screen at the sky battles being waged. Raphsidy shows one video where the Bulgata contingent are hovering above a gray tiered structure. RAPHSIDY We've taken one of their Initiate Centers. FEDORA How goes the battle with the others? Raphsidy flips a few switches and brings up two different succeeding videos. RAPHSIDY (continuing) One of the battles has reached a stalemate. In the other one, the humans are putting up quite the resistance. FEDOS Send reinforcements to back up both advances. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION - CONTINUOUS Two arms of forces including both capital ships and fighters depart from the main contingent of the Bulgata armada and head toward their different destinations. EXT. DORRIDION, ORMANDY DISTRICT - CONTINUOUS The Initiates continue their battle with the Myrmidions. Fighters whom had escorted the dropships continue to find themselves engaged in battle with Bulgata fighters who have arrived. Simone and Matt remain to the side of the tall building, while other Initiates are in the street being covered by the parked vehicles. SIMONE (to Matt) How many more are left? Matt wheels towards a vehicle and counts mentally while firing on the approaching Bulgata. He returns to Simone. MATT (continuing) Far too many to count. Just now they look up as a Delta Squadron fighter gets blown out of the sky and crashes straight into a building, its remains falling near Simone and Matt, blocking them inside of the alleyway. MATT That was way too close for my liking. SIMONE We'll have to go around the alley to make it back. Simone leads Matt through the alleyway and they come out on the other side of a congregation of Myrmidions. They stand defeated. A Myrmidion speaks through his helmet. MYRMIDION Drop your weapons! They do so, slowly, and raise their hands to the sky as they are converged upon. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Raphsidy relays the goings on of the battle. RAPHSIDY Another Initiate Center has come under our control, my lord and mistress. FEDORA Excellent. Soon their resistance will be as nothing. EXT. DORRIDION, BATTLE OVER WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS Jonathan flies maverick-like through the sky as he shoots down Bulgata fighter after fighter. The Male Cadet from earlier speaks through his helmet. MALE CADET Am I the only one who thinks the Bulgata forces have gotten bigger? JONATHAN These are two large opposing forces. It seems they were indeed reinforced under our eyes. We'll just have to make due. Jonathan wheels around through the sky dodging the fire of a Myrmidion who chases after him. JONATHAN Sorry, buddy. I won't be game to any Bulgata coward. After a time and much aerial skill he manages to lose the hunter through the chaos of battle. JONATHAN (excitedly) Yee-haw! Just a little too much shakin' and bakin' for that der fella. Just then Jonathan's reveries are broken as he comes ship to ship with a Bulgata fighter and they crash into one another, killing them both. Simon free falls through the sky trying to evade a Bulgata fighter. The laser beams from the crafts scar and burn his fighter. He V shapes his way upward and the Bulgata fighter continues after him. SIMON A little help here. GARNET I'll be there in a jiffy. Simon continues to evade the laser fire of the Bulgata craft when Garnet's craft descends from above and blows the Bulgata fighter to smithereens. SIMON Thanks, Garnet. GARNET It wasn't a problem. JASON (agitated) Guys--I'm being chased by two fighters. Simon looks at his radar. SIMON (continuing) I'll help to alleviate. Simon careens his fighter through the skies and heads through the tumult of battle towards Jason's pursuers. He looks in the distance and sees Jason trying to evade the laser fire of the two fighters. He positions himself behind the two of them and let's loose unwavering laser fire on one of them, knocking off a wing and sending the fighter spiraling to the ground. SIMON I've taken care of one of them. Stay calm as I get the other one. Simon tries to put the other fighter into his cross hairs but this Myrmidion is adept at avoiding being locked on. The three fighters continue the chase and after a time Simon finally locks on to him and sends a photon torpedo his way. The missile heads for its destination and just before it strikes the Bulgata sends a missile of his own, having locked on to Jason's craft. JASON He--he locked on to me! SIMON Crap! I'll try to shoot it down. Just keep accelerating. Simon embraces a method of boost and shortens the distance between he and the torpedo, but he is too late as it strikes the ship. JASON (frantic) I'm going down-- GREGORY Eject, Jason! JASON (frantic) The--the cockpit is locked! Simon can only look in horror as Jason descends ever further from view. These moments have cost him dearly, as a Bulgata fighter has now locked on to him and let loose a torpedo. His fighter buzzes with alarm. He ejects out of his craft and activates on his belt what are GRAVITY BOOTS which allow him to fall harmlessly but speedily towards the ground, with the chaos of the battle continually waged about him, fighters flying ridiculously close to him, hugging him. EXT. DORRIDION, WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS Simon descends into the wooded area with a thud and picks himself up from the ground, looking about him. He speaks to himself. SIMON I've got to get back to the Initiate Center. He begins making his way through the wooded area. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Raphsidy relays the latest goings on of the last of the resistance. RAPHSIDY We have pounded the last of the resistance into submission. Their leaders have called for a retreat and are willing to discuss terms of surrender. FEDOS Prepare our escape pod, Raphsidy, along with an escort. We would meet with these leaders of Dorridion. RAPHSIDY You will again need the Interpreters and Amplifiers if you are to understand their speech. The Myrmidions have them equipped. You will find them in the pod. Fedos and Fedora head near the exit and stop near Illzar. FEDOS Come, Illzar. FEDORA Yes, we would not want to leave you away from the amusement. ILLZAR As you wish, my lord and mistress. Illzar follows behind his lord and mistress. EXT. UNISEE, PALACE LIBRARY - MORNING Iris stands and speaks near a Uniseeian FEMALE AIDE in the palace library. It is constructed with an abundance of beauty, bathed in the color of wood, shining and brilliant, with sculptures of figures of the Uniseeian past taking up its halls. A fountain stands in the very center of the all encompassing structure, made of crystal, its waters gushing forth Langdon approaches the duo as the Female Aide leaves. LANGDON Monafia will be here soon. She just had an errand to run for her father. Iris nods and smiles. She then takes in the splendor of the library. IRIS (continuing) This place, it's so beautiful. Iris laughs. IRIS (continuing) I could see myself taking up residence here, the whole of the planet I mean. She turns towards Langdon, who appears to have something on his mind. IRIS (continuing) Is something wrong? Langdon looks up at her, and then away. LANGDON (continuing) Just thinking, that's all. IRIS About--her? Langdon looks towards her again. The two stare at one another, not airing their thoughts. Jesse appears behind Langdon and facing Iris. He hesitates and observes before speaking and then approaches. JESSE (continuing) Guys, I've been lookin' everywhere for ya. Dorridion and Delta Squadron have been attacked. The Bulgata is now occupying the planet. Langdon speaks almost to himself. LANGDON The Bulgata-- Iris looks towards him concernedly. JESSE It's being broadcast now. Come on. The trio rush out of the library. INT. STAR CRUISER, DORM QUARTERS - CONTINUOUS Jesse leads Langdon and Iris through the lighted hall of the dorm quarters. They follow his lead through the dorm door and watch in silence as the Female Reporter reports in a three dimensional projection. FEMALE REPORTER --The siege of Dorridion and the Delta Squadron Academy began some three and a half hours ago. We are told that the Bulgata first wiped out the Academy, utterly, and then bent its focus on the planet. Commander A. P. Holton, in the interest of preserving lives, ordered the Initiates and remaining cadets to retreat, and is now brokering terms of surrender with the Bulgata commanders-- The Female Reporter goes on indistinctly. IRIS What are we going to do? They wiped out all of Delta Squadron. Langdon turns away from them and reflects. LANGDON (continuing) The Czar. I'm sure he'll come up with something. JESSE (frantic) I'm on edge. How can they wipe out an entire Academy? Langdon puts his hand to his chin. LANGDON (continuing) They must have expended a very large portion of their planet's fleet. And you're forgetting, they pretty much destroyed the surface of Earth. I just hope that the Czar has a plan to repel this latest attack, otherwise, we could be in for a rough ride. The trio turn their attention back towards the broadcast, and listen on in silence. EXT. MARUNE, DOCKS OF HIGH COMMAND - NIGHT Czar Shepard along with his two aides and Commander Wecker exit the Czar's Star Cruiser and are approached by several diplomats. DIPLOMAT #1 Sire, Dorridion-- CZAR SHEPARD Yes, I know. It was broadcast. What's the latest from Dorridion? DIPLOMAT #2 We have been trying to get into contact with them, but it seems all transmission has been halted since Holton's first distress signal. Commander Wecker speaks up. COMMANDER WECKER He may still be alive. These fiends kept Lord Dalaysis alive for a very great while before attempting to kill him. CZAR SHEPARD Perhaps. Now all of you, come. We need to discuss this with the other diplomats. They all follow Czar Shepard to the sliding door. INT. HIGH COMMAND, CONFERENCE ROOM - CONTINUOUS Czar Shepard enters into the floor of the conference room. It is shaped in the form of a dome and packed with officials from Earth, Marune, Sordaan, and Dorridion. The seats which they occupy take up two floors and when looked upon from above are in the form of a horseshoe. Czar Shepard moves toward the circular pattern housing a chair, and like the last crisis, he doesn't sit. A giant wall screen stands to the back of the circular pattern housing the chair. The voices of the diplomats drown out the speakers cries for order. SPEAKER Order, ORDER! The diplomats quiet down. CZAR SHEPARD No time for the pleasantries, Mr. Speaker. Gentlemen, let us get right down to business. How many capital ships and fighters can we have at Dorridion in seven hours time? Silence engulfs the conference room. Diplomat #1 speaks up. DIPLOMAT #1 If we take, say, half from Omega Squadron, half from Sigma Squadron, and half from Alpha here at Marune, I'd say-- DIPLOMAT #2 --Sire, you would leave the Academies and the rest of the colonies unprotected? CZAR SHEPARD I would do what is necessary to win back Dorridion. I will not let these cravens bully us any further. DIPLOMAT #3 If this is the route we are to take then we will have hundreds of capital ships engaged in battle alone. Should we not think of the plight we will put the people of Dorridion in? CZAR SHEPARD We need not worry about that aspect of the battle. All of the Initiate Centers are surrounded by woodland areas. It was a precautionary measure taken for just such an occasion. As much as I hate spontaneity mixed with military tactics, we must not allow the Bulgata time to reinforce their numbers. They were a big enough force to take out Delta Squadron and the Initiate Centers, but surely their numbers have dwindled since. COMMANDER WECKER We have already proven that we can challenge the Bulgata. We have won several skirmishes as well as the conflict in Unisee. The sooner we attack the better our chances will be. CZAR SHEPARD Indeed. Do we have any objections to this mode of action? Silence engulfs the conference room. CZAR SHEPARD Well then, gentlemen-- Czar Shepard as well as the rest of the diplomats attention is arrested towards the screen as it springs into action, showcasing Commander A. P. Holton, who is showing anger. CZAR SHEPARD Holton? HOLTON (resigned) Sire-- Just then Fedos and Fedora appear to either side of Holton. They speak English here and possess a hint of an English accent. FEDOS So this is the leader of humanity? Czar Shepard is it? This is where you make your final stand, Czar Shepard. Fedora laughs wickedly. FEDORA (continuing) And those behind we assume are your diplomats? Fitting that all of you should be gathered together to witness our hour of triumph. CZAR SHEPARD Your 'hour of triumph?' You scour the stars in search of impotent foes to add to your sham of an interstellar empire? This time you have met a match equaling your own. Fedos smirks. FEDOS (continuing) You speak brazenly for a leader who has seen his home world annihilated. A leader whose commander stands in abject reflection before his new masters. CZAR SHEPARD Do not misunderstand me. I have no reservations pertaining to your cowardice tactics. You have yet to see the full extent of the Earth Empire, no, not by a longshot. Fedora smirks. FEDORA (continuing) We shall see indeed, Shepard. As it stands things aren't looking so good for you and your people. Shepard looks angry. FEDOS We have contacted you to offer a choice. You can either submit now, or do battle with us. I would prefer the latter option, but if you would rather embrace enslavement and prevent the deaths of your people-- CZAR SHEPARD --We will do battle. And we will put an end to your interstellar tyranny. FEDORA Then we await your arrival, Shepard. Do not keep us waiting too long. The screen goes blank and Shepard turns to face his diplomats, looking spent. CZAR SHEPARD (continuing) Prepare for Alpha Squadron's departure, gentlemen. We have much adversity set before us. INT. SIMULATED GREEN HOUSE, BULGATA HOME WORLD - EVENING Green tinted Atla Borges and blue skinned Wynn Glynn are harvesting vegetables with other slaves in a simulated green house on the Bulgata home world. It is simulated because this planet's sky sheds no light. Bright light descends from the high ceiling of the structure, imitating sunlight. INT. FEEDING HOUSE - CONTINUOUS The slaves are being rounded up to feed. A Myrmidion stands at the forefront of them all and calls them by name via the referencing of a handheld computer terminal. Gindred, Atla, and Wynn receive their meals and then move on to a table to feed. ATLA So, Gindred, what has been happening on the Bulgata front? Gindred twirls his fork through his food and then sniffs it. GINDRED (continuing) There is a colony called Dorridion belonging to the Earth Empire. The Bulgata totally overran it. They destroyed the planet's defending space station, put down all resistance, and now occupy the planet itself. Wynn looks concerned. WYNN (continuing) How big of a planet is it? Gindred has a piece of meat on his fork and side glances at it. GINDRED (continuing) It's a pretty big planet, with a sizable population. One of the biggest of the colonized worlds from what I've been told. It also had one of biggest militaries. Atla has a look of amusement on her face as she twirls through her vegetables. ATLA (continuing) Gindred, these Myrmidions must have <u>really</u> taken to you over the years to share so much Intel. Gindred has by now placed the meat in his mouth and speaks with a mouthful. GINDRED (continuing) I don't know. It's pretty easy to get close to a Myrmidion, at least for me. He suppresses a cough. GINDRED (continuing) All you have to do is pretend as if you sympathize with their plight. Most of them don't want to be doing what they're doing Wynn looks around to make sure no one is looking and hunches forward. WYNN (continuing) We should use that to our advantage. Start a groundswell of resistance. If we can free ourselves, then we can overthrow the commanding couple. Then everyone everywhere will be free. ATLA (considering) Young Feros is too young to ascend to the throne, certainly too young to lead the Bulgata from world to world. I've never considered this option, but it might just prove viable. Wynn hunches over her food again. WYNN (continuing) See? All we have to do is get Gindred here to convince the Myrmidions in the Confinement House to our cause. Gindred waves his fork in the air. GINDRED (continuing) Don't tell me you're succumbing to her ideas of foment, Atla. We'd be crushed. Atla lowers her gaze. ATLA (continuing) I was only entertaining the possibility. Assassinating the commanding couple is viable-- Suddenly, a Myrmidion walks right behind Atla and she silences herself. He looks at them all and they seem on edge. He then walks away without saying a word. WYNN That was far too close for my liking. GINDRED That was a sign that we should leave this idle talk. No more assassination nonsense. We could be killed. Wynn looks at Gindred disconcertingly, and reluctantly begins eating her meal. EXT. SPACE, HIGH ORBIT OVER EARTH - SUPER - OMEGA SQUADRON AT EARTH Pairs upon pairs of capital ships and a sea fighters issue forth from the docks of the Omega Squadron Academy while the blue Earth serves as a backdrop. EXT. SPACE, HIGH ORBIT OVER SORDAAN - SUPER - SIGMA SQUADRON AT SORDAAN Similarly, pairs upon pairs of capital ships and a sea of fighters issue forth from the gigantic Sigma Squadron Academy while the planet Sordaan serves as a backdrop. EXT. SPACE, HIGH ORBIT OVER MARUNE - SUPER - ALPHA SQUADRON AT MARUNE Capital ships extend sweepingly across the graphite and swarms of fighters are interspersed everywhere around Alpha Squadron Academy while the planet Marune serves as a backdrop. They begin moving and an all encompassing humming noise can be heard, as they enter hyperspace, causing the universe to bend. EXT. DORRIDION, OUTSIDE OF INITIATE CENTER - EVENING Simon hustles in a crouch as he makes his way through the wooded area and sees in the distance the Initiate Center. From his vantage point Initiates as well as Cadets are all lined up on the ground in an open area with their hands tied and linked through interconnected straps of bondage. He looks on with concern. He speaks softly to himself. SIMON Simone--no-- A rustling in the woods catches Simon's attention and he quickly scurries about to hide himself. Two Myrmidions walk past on patrol with laser guns hoisted to their shoulders. Simon waits until they are out of range until he repositions himself back into the open. SIMON I've got to do something. Before he can decide on a plan of action his attention is arrested by the voice of a Myrmidion, who appears from behind him. MYRMIDION Hey you! Put your hands in the air. Slowly. Simon turns around and does as he's told. But as the Myrmidion closes the gap between them Simon jumps up into the air and gives him a spin kick, knocking him to the ground. He picks up the laser gun and drags the Myrmidion into the woods. He looks at the unconscious Myrmidion and suddenly a plan introduces itself unto him. EXT. SPACE, EXTENDED VIEW OF OMEGA SQUADRON FLEET Half of the Omega Squadron Academy exits hyper space with Dorridion in view. The capital ships, fighters, and drop ships then remain stationary. INT. DROP SHIP Langdon and Iris sit across from one another in the drop ship with other members of Omega Elite. They will be in infantry duty in the conflict with the Bulgata. Langdon moves to the front of the extended drop ship and sneaks a peak out of the captain's window at Dorridion and the destroyed Delta Squadron, which has pieces of its exterior floating about in space and looks a shell of its former self. Iris as well as many other cadets comes from behind him to observe LANGDON They've completely demolished it-- IRIS (in reflection) The Bulgata--they've destroyed so much of what makes us a people. LANGDON (wistful) So many people died in the attack on Earth. And now they've bent their will on the colonies and the symbols of our military might, the Academies. The two look at one another and then return to staring back at the ruined Academy. EXT. SPACE, EXTENDED VIEW OF OMEGA SQUADRON FLEET Countless fighters are all grouped around the many capital ships. We are now inside of Jesse's fighter, who observes the ruined Academy. JESSE (in shock) --No way. The fighters and capital ships remain motionless in the deep space. EXT. DORRIDION, OUTSIDE OF INITIATE CENTER - DAWN Simon walks around pretending to patrol the area in a Myrmidion get up. Now that morning is presenting itself, and thus light, he moves closer to the bound Initiates and cadets. The woods are about twenty yards away from where the youngsters are bound. Other Myrmidions occasionally walk amongst the chained, though Simon is largely alone at this point and time. Finally, he sees who is looking for, Simone and Matt. He looks to unbind them, but the material of which they are bound is very sturdy. They look on curiously. Finally, he takes the laser gun from his side and fires at the cords, severing them. They stand and look confused and Simon grabs them by the arm and leads them into the woods. When they are safe he takes off the helmet and Simone rushes towards him and they embrace. SIMONE Simon! MATT Man, I didn't know what was going on. SIMON I may not could do anything for anyone else, but--I just couldn't--I had to try something. SIMONE It's alright. We're safe now. SIMON We can hide in the woods until the calvary comes. Matt looks about him. MATT (continuing) Where's Jason? Simon looks towards Matt and grief reintroduces itself unto him. SIMON (downcast) Jason--fell in battle. Simone and Matt look sourly at Simon. INT. INITIATE CENTER, CONFERENCE ROOM - CONTINUOUS Raphsidy enters into the conference room as Fedos and Fedora examine the Dorridion computer terminal. Commander A.P. Holton is also in the conference room. He is being watched by a Myrmidion who is on guard. Illzar is present, he stands near the exit of the room with his arms folded. RAPHSIDY They have finally arrived, my lord and my mistress. Holton looks towards Raphsidy with a glimmer of hope. Fedora notices this. FEDORA (continuing) Oh, do not worry, little Holton. This will indeed be the last of the resistance of your puny Earth Empire. FEDOS Yes, prepare for a lifetime of servitude and bondage. Since you are not Czar Shepard, we could spare your life and allow you to aid us, to strengthen our empire. But, if you'd rather-- COMMANDER HOLTON (bitterly) --I'd rather die then aid you. Fedora laughs wickedly. FEDORA (continuing) Then die you shall. FEDOS We shall allow you to live long enough to see your people's overwhelming defeat before us. Come, Fedora, Raphsidy, Illzar. FEDORA We should gather our infantry near grassland, to better facilitate the battle. FEDOS Yes, there is hardly much room for open warfare in this wooded area. RAPHSIDY I can have our forces rallied in no time at all. Fedos speaks to the Myrmidion. FEDOS (continuing) Watch him closely. MYRMIDION Yes, my lord. The quadruplet exit the conference room. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION The very large Czar Star Cruiser leads a vast amount of fighters and capital ships, breaking through the atmosphere of the planet Dorridion. INT. CZAR'S STAR CRUISER Czar Shepard is surrounded by three of his four Academy Commanders and two of his aides. They are all standing around the radar terminal near a MALE OPERATOR. MALE OPERATOR Sire, the Bulgata have gathered infantry near the HINTARA GRASSLANDS while their fighters and capital ships are stationed near the Initiate Centers. CZAR SHEPARD Have our forces assemble where appropriate. EXT. HIGH ORBIT OVER DORRIDION The dropships of the Earth Empire head one way while the fighters and capital ships head another. EXT. HINTARA GRASSLANDS - MORNING A flock of alien birds fly over the vast Bulgata army. Myrmidions are all lined up in rank and file, with Tuskans at the ready and laser pistols at their side. An eerie silence has enveloped the area as we see the seemingly stoic Myrmidions awaiting battle. Now the dropships of the Earth Empire begin moving from the distance and to situate themselves above the Hintara Grasslands. Hoards upon hoards of dropships hover above ground and cadets from all of the three remaining Academies (Omega, Sigma, and Alpha) all wearing distinct uniforms begin jumping out of the dropships and running with much vigor and a battle cry towards the Myrmidions, who too now begin rushing towards the conflict. We watch as Langdon and Iris positions themselves to depart from a dropship. They do so and also rush towards battle. The first wave runs into one another and cadets and Myrmidions engage in a titanic struggle, with cadets using their Killimari swords while their pistols remain strapped to their sides, and Myrmidions their Tuskans which come with wide blows. EXT. DORRIDION, WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS Fighters and capital ships of the Bulgata blanket the skies, currently in hover mode. In the distance, the forces of the Earth Empire come into view. The Earth forces too are vast. Capital ships and fighters now from the opposing forces carpet the sky in pretty much all directions. Fighters from both forces begin advancing towards one another and engage in combat, while the capital ships slowly make their way towards the fight. Jesse follows after a Bulgata fighter religiously. He at times has a hint of locking on to the fighter but the fighter weaves and dodges Jesse's pursuit. Now the fighter embraces a method of boost in an effort to escape but Jesse embraces a similar method of boost. JESSE You won't get away from me that easy, buddy. Jesse continues his pursuit of the craft and finally after a brief time his fighter lets him know that he has the Myrmidion locked on by beeping. He presses a button marked photon torpedo and sends the Bulgata fighter crashing into the wooded area. EXT. DORRIDION, HINTARA GRASSLANDS - CONTINUOUS Illzar plows through cadet after cadet. He meets newfound prey and slays them without much effort. Langdon and Iris battle side by side, sending Myrmidions to their demise. We can see that they are getting closer to one another, though Langdon or Illzar specifically haven't spied their enemy from the conflict on Unisee. Finally they do notice one another amidst the chaos of the battle, and Langdon speaks to Iris. LANGDON This one is strong. We're going to have to separate now. IRIS No, I won't leave you. I can fight. Langdon considers. By now Illzar has cut his way through cadet after cadet and stands before his new opponents. ILLZAR You. The insolent one. LANGDON And you. The one of arrogance. Illzar smirks. His attention is then arrested by Iris. ILLZAR (continuing) And from the looks of things you've bought another to share in your demise. Iris has a look of determination in her eyes. ILLZAR (continuing) Come then. The both of you. Today is as good as any to die. The two rush towards Illzar and he does an array of spins and sidesteps to avoid being struck with their weapons. He then reaches for Langdon with his Tuskan arm weapons, which Langdon blocks with his Killimari while Iris spin kicks Illzar in the face, causing him to stumble and blood to trickle from his lip. He places a finger to his lip and smirks at her, while both Langdon and Iris remain set and determined. INT. INTIDMIDATOR WARSHIP, BRIDGE Fedos and Fedora observe the chaos of the battle through the viewing screen. Raphsidy relays their status. RAPHSIDY They have come with a very large armada. I am surprised that they responded with so much brute force. Fedora turns towards him. FEDORA (continuing) Can we win? Raphsidy hesitates. RAPHSIDY (continuing) I can't say for sure. I was comfortable with how many infantry we bought from Bulgata, but a little leery about our fleet. FEDOS We have more than enough fighters and capital ships split among the colonies. We shall see how potent of a people they are this day. EXT. DORRIDION, WOODEN AREA - CONTINUOUS Jesse flies through the onslaught of battle. A Myrmidion chases after him and fires continuous laser fire as Jesse twists and turns through the air. Now a beeping sound can be heard as the Myrmidion has locked onto his craft. JESSE Crud! Jesse vaults his fighter into the air as the torpedo follows him like a shadow through chaos. Finally, he comes close to crashing into a Bulgata fighter and immediately he dips his fighter before it happens and the missile explodes the Bulgata craft. He has also now lost the Bulgata fighter. JESSE Whew. That was a close one. He begins firing on an unsuspecting Bulgata fighter. EXT. DORRIDION, ISOLATED WOODED AREA - CONTINUOUS The Czar's Star cruiser is positioned in an out of the way area of the woods, the mayhem of battle some distance away. INT. CZAR'S STAR CRUISER Czar Shepard stands near Commander Wecker and the Male Operator of the capital ship. The Male Operator relays the goings on of battle. MALE REPORTER Sire, I'm getting numerous reports from captains of capital ships throughout the Initiate areas that we are pushing the Bulgata to the limit. They feel that we will soon have them on the run. Czar Shepard breathes a sigh of relief and then looks towards Wecker. COMMANDER WECKER We've expended a lot of our military might in this crisis, but it looks as if we'll pull through in the end. CZAR SHEPARD From the looks of things, yes. Shepard turns towards the Male Operator. CZAR SHEPARD Keep me informed of anything of significance. MALE OPERATOR Yes, sire. EXT. DORRIDION, HINTARA GRASSLANDS - CONTINUOUS Langdon and Iris continue their tussle with Illzar. Illzar with his Tuskans back hands Langdon and sends him to the ground. Iris looks towards Langdon and now she begins to size up Illzar. He smirks the entire time. Finally, she charges after him and they enter into a struggle of nicks, near misses, and avoidance maneuvers. Langdon shows movement on the ground. Illzar sees this. Now he swipes with fury towards Iris and puts her on her heels. Finally he swipes at her stomach, exposing flesh, and spin kicks her in the face, knocking her a good deal away from him. Langdon sees this. LANGDON No! Langdon stands and rushes towards a smirking Illzar who is somewhat unprepared for the fury that Langdon exhibits. Langdon counters every move of Illzar's and showcases a will to kill that Illzar has yet to see. Illzar soon has blood streaking from his arms and a scar on his face. Langdon has only the scar from the back handed blow. Finally, Langdon manages to spin kick Illzar into oblivion, sending him crashing into the ground. Illzar's movements are not so pronounced. Langdon rushes towards the aid of Iris, holding her in his arms and trying to awaken her by gently tapping her face. LANGDON Iris! Iris?! Speak to me. INT. INTIMIDATOR WARSHIP Raphsidy relays the goings on of battle. FEDOS Well? How goes it? RAPHSIDY I--think we should leave now. Our fighters are depleted and even our capital ships are beginning to show strain. Fedos looks angry. FEDOS (continuing) I will have this people. I will not be denied this glory. FEDORA Perhaps we should wait it out? We may very well still be able to win this. FEDOS (disgustedly) No--we're leaving. Transpose them, Raphsidy. Raphsidy presses a button on the computer terminal and relays a message to the remaining Bulgata forces, both capital ships and fighters. EXT. DORRIDION, HINTARA GRASSLANDS - CONTINUOUS Langdon still tries to revive Iris. She shows some signs of recovery. He breathes a sigh of relief. Behind him, Illzar has recovered, and now he comes towards the two of them with the intent to kill. Just before he can swipe however, he is beamed up in a shaft of light into one of the many capital ships. Similarly, other Myrmidions on the Hintara Grasslands are beamed up. Now the entire forces have been beamed up. Langdon and many other cadets look about them confusingly. Langdon now returns to caring for Iris. EXT. DORRIDION, INITIATE CENTER #1 - CONTINUOS Simon and Simone observe the Myrmidions patrolling about getting beamed up in the shelter of the woods, look at one another confusingly, and advance slowly. INT. INITIATE CENTER #1, CONFERENCE ROOM The Myrmidion guarding Commander A. P. Holton disappears in a beam of light before him and Holton nearly jumps out of his seat. EXT. SKY VIEW OF DORRIDION - CONTINUOUS The Bulgata armada collectively pulls away from the Dorridion atmosphere. INT. CZAR'S STAR CRUISER Czar Shepard along with Commander Wecker and the two other NAMELESS COMMANDERS rejoice at the departing Bulgata. Shepard hugs Wecker and they all generally embrace one another. EXT. OUTSIDE INITIATE CENTER #1 - CONTINUOUS Simon goes around and frees the Initiates and cadets who were bound using the laser gun, one of which is Overseer Jack Hoft. The cadets and Initiates all stand excitedly, some of which cry. Just then, Jason can be seen walking from the woods, looking confused. He approaches Simon, Simone, and Matt. JASON Guys, how did the battle go? They all look towards him surprisingly and run to hug him. SIMONE (continuing) We thought you were a goner. Jason looks flushed. JASON (continuing) Yeah--I managed to eject before my fighter crashed. Although I got kinda lost trying to make my way back here, with no road to follow and all. SIMON I'm so glad you're safe. Jason smiles. EXT. DORRIDION, HINTARA GRASSLANDS - CONTINUOUS The cadets celebrate loudly at the departing Bulgata. Dead infantry from both the Bulgata and Earth Empire lay sprawled about the grasslands. Langdon has managed to revive Iris, though he still holds her in his arms. LANGDON You're wounded. We need to get you to a medic. Iris breathes heavily. IRIS (continuing) It's just a scratch. I'll be fine. LANGDON I thought--I had lost you again. Langdon strokes her hair. He then kisses her softly. The two stare at one another and put on small smiles. FADE OUT:
