words about night

A shadow is cast as the dusk falls,
Birds silence yet owls will emerge.
The moon shines bright as nature call’s,
A mouse scatters while its stalker is deterred.

Stars up above our earth aim to shine,
Pushing through clouds that drift on by.
Darkening more every hour combined,
Seeing less now of what was a blue sky.

One at a time clouds start to burst,
Sprinkling drops of rain fall to the ground.
A storm is brewing to quench lands thirst,
Yet after the downpour green grass will abound.

Deep into this evening carries a chill in the air,
Pull up the covers and close my eyes tight.
Slipping to slumber in dreamland I’ll meet you there,
Under this earths wondrous dark night.
