It's that time of year again. Time for goal-setting.
My watchword for 2012 is DISCIPLINE. The kind of butt-in-chair, minimize-distractions, just-write discipline that is my biggest challenge when it comes to producing books. It's been one a year for the last three years, and I want to increase my output. This year I want to finish and publish Deliverance, a spin-off of Shattered. This story features Carl O'Neill, who finds himself in big trouble in the small prairie town of Mackenzie, Saskatchewan. Then I want to finally complete my children's novel, which keeps getting bumped to the end of the line by pushy adult characters who pop into my mind demanding that I write about THEM. Then, I might go back to Wallace Flats to write Nathan Munroe's story, or I might go with another one of the characters from Shattered - Georgie or possibly Bea. I'm leaving a certain amount up to inspiration, but one way or the other my goal is 2 books in 2012, achieved with DISCIPLINE.
