November 4, 2007 Fast Food Nation Summary In the book, “Fast Food Nation” by Eric Schlosser, he tries to explain how the fast food industry is not only bad for us but for our environment. How they are trying to take over the food industry, and to fatten us up. He depicts a world of a fast-pasted society fixed on unhealthy food, set on destroying it self, our world. He explains how fast food industries only objective is to make money. They don’t care if we are slowly dieing, or if they are even slowly killing earth, just as long as they are filthy rich. He talks about his experiences with the fast food industry, and how they create a mirage of a happy environment to cover up to true harshness of the greasy madness. He uses McDonald's as the biggest example of this, and they do that by using a clown, and they even call there kids meals happy meals. The author explains how fast food industries have started a chain reaction of how the idea that a faster society is better and the idea of a speedy society are spreading to all aspects of life. He talks about Colorado Springs Valley and how the fast food industry totally destroyed the wild life and the people’s way of life that worked there. How fast food industries have already affected the production of food. Farmers and ranchers old way of life, for them it’s all about who can get the most food output and the speed of which they can fill an order.
