Dear Me,
Dear me. That is an appropriate phrase I think. Appropriate for the amount of trouble you often find yourself in. Dear me. Last year was hard. You found out things about yourself you suspected but weren’t sure of. You now have a word for what’s been plaguing you your whole life. A sense of humor only you can understand. That and Bipolar. You wrote a script, entered into contests, and, well, lost. You also came extremely close to writing an entirely new script, one I’m sure you will finish soon. It’s a new year now, 2012. Some say this is the year the world will end, though you doubt it. It would be quite bothersome wouldn’t it? Lucky you to have a birthday in January, right when the new year starts. A new year. A new you. A fresh start. Also, another day to be alive. Another day to fight for what you want.
You’ve been working on this story for eight years, though in reality it’s just a part of your own story. One that has nineteen chapters and countless plot twists. I do believe, in spite of any bias I may have, that this is your year. I believe that you believe in yourself, and that you have others that believe in you. This will be the year you finish your second script, only sixteen pages left to go. You became acquaintances with an amazing script analyst and this year you’ll go farther. Continue on your hard work and occasionally merry way, and I believe this can be the year that your dream comes true. The dream that you’ve kept in your heart (and God knows, along with everyone else you’ve come into contact with, on your tongue) for eight years. You’ve worked hard, and never quit. Which says one of two things about you, possibly both. One: You are extremely determined and love what you do with all your heart. Two: You are an idiot who doesn’t know how, or when, to throw the towel in. This can be your year. The year you see your dream, a part of yourself, finally thrust into the spotlight and big screen where it belongs. You’ve sure worked long enough on it. But even if it doesn’t, you’ll always have next year.
Like a man with an amazing imagination once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” And he got an amusement park named after him so he must know what he’s talking about. As for courage, you need not be afraid. For “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.” So keep working, and dreaming, and breathing. Keep living. I know great things are planned for you.
Sincerely,
Myself
