MY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

Every year about this time, I write up a list,
vowing that this year, I will soon be kissed.
Someone out there will fall in love with me
and maybe I'll find just what I've missed

I resolve to change my habits, or at least a few,
to improve upon my lifestyle is something I can do!
I will take a vacation from my workaholic ways,
then enjoy what's gonna brighten up my days!

Down under the moonlight, the stars shining bright,
I vow that I will not be sitting home alone at night!
I'll dance to lively music, hear the twang of a guitar,
and I'll do just what comes naturally, to my delight!

Maybe this year, while I'm still in this good mood,
I'll sit myself down again, without being too rude.
I'll make another list that will be easier to keep -
Happy New Year to all, this is the year to Leap!

Making resolutions is good for the hardy soul,
keeping them is tough unless you're on a roll.
Let's have a glass and toast our good intentions,
tomorrow is another day that no one mentions.

But the party is soon over and January looms,
I won't find my list for at least a half dozen moons.
My New Year's Resolutions are a thing of the past,
Once more they'll be broken, much too good to last!
