Here We Go Again
I rewrote this poem for 2013 to keep with the times. Nothing much has changed. |
Here we go again, bringing in a New Year. I rise at the crack of dawn with thoughts of good cheer. Wanting a life full of purpose, respect and self-esteem Wondering, can I really achieve this dream? Resolutions come to mind, also thoughts about wanting peace. There's soldiers still fulfilling combat duty, isn’t it time for their release? It’s been eleven long years for heaven sake! How time has flown! Are they now forgotten while politicians talk of new war zones? Thoughts of peace continue, hoping congress will find common ground. A job solution is desparately needed, all this stalling makes me frown. Our economy is steadily improving, but I wonder for how long? When congress is planning to hinder progress, which is so wrong! If no new helpful ideas are put forth, we’re heading for a downfall. What we need is a United Nation... A divided nation above all Will makes things worse with no elation in all things we hold dear. Pray that this doesn’t happen and hopefully we’ll persevere. . Let there be light in this sea of darkness and think of a solution to share. Be a leader that's for the people, by the people, of the people and declare, It’s not just for the one percent anymore! Which was so unfair! No more thinking what’s in it for me. Let's think, “Our country first!” This is my prayer... |
