Christmas has come and gone, bringing in a brand New Year I rise at the crack of dawn, thinking thoughts of good cheer Of a life full of purpose, to gain respect and self-esteem. In this time of high finance, trying to fulfill my dreams Within this world of new technology, hoping just to persevere. My heads spinning with resoloutions, while thoughts wander to war and peace In a new year of hope, I pray for our troops to be released From these wars of controversy, they are mostly forgotten and alone As they fulfill their combat duty, while politicians argue about new war zones In another country, never ceasing with our military policing I bemoan. My thoughts of peace continue, that congress will find common ground We need a breakthrough on job solutions that will solve problems that profound Our economy needs improving as well, leaving everyone worried and forlorn It’s slowly lifting that is true, inching along at a snail’s pace that makes us frown As ideas on bubble-up or trickle-down economics, have been proven untrue and outworn. If no new helpful ideas are put forth, will we become a third world country? What we need is a United Nation, a divided nation in this new year Will makes things worse with no elation in all things we hold dear. So here is a word of warning to all who wish to hear Beware of all those false promises that always seem so sincere. They spin their webs of deceit, so definitely be a doubting Thomas Be the light in a sea of darkness, with methods of innovation to share We need leaders that are for the people, by the people, of the people Not for just the one percent or ninety-nine percent, how did all this become unfair? No more thinking what’s in it for me, think what we can do for our country and adhere.
