Dear [agent],
As you represent [ ], I would like you to consider my boy-driven MG adventure novel, MEREDITH MOUNTAIN MIRACLE, for representation. It is complete at 21,000 words. Emilio can hardly wait for the fifth grade class trip. Meredith Mountain is bound to be full of unusual bugs and rare leaf specimens for his collection. Besides, it will be a good break from the playground and Hans’s nonstop teasing. His excitement dies when they get lost together in the wilderness. Alone in the forest, the two boys battle against a grizzly bear even bigger than Coach Harry. They face snakes, bees, and sinking mud, but find no sign of a trail. Their expedition becomes hopeless when Emilio slips and hurts his leg on a rocky hill. Will they make it back alive, now that he can hardly walk? Emilio’s only option is to ignore his grudge against Hans and work with him to get out of this mess. He knows everything about nature, but as much as he hates to admit it, he wouldn’t go very far without Hans’s strength and agility. One of my short stories, Paradoxical Neighbor, has been published by Nelson Education in a book for 10th graders called NELSON LITERACY 10. I've been a member of SCBWI since 2009. I have enclosed the first [five pages] below, as per your guidelines. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
