My Name is Blessed
This a poem I wrote in high school on unity through diversity. I would love feedback!

Who are you?
Who am I?
What we desire to do comes from who we are.
What are we then, my friend, if we desire to BE something?
What are we then if we limit ourselves to the color people paint us?
My eyes see no difference between us.
People may call me blind.
People may call me dumb.
But you call me friend.
So I call myself blessed.

I call myself blessed because through shades and tones, through talents and beliefs I see the richest tapestry ever beheld by man.
I see the greatest masterpiece ever created and dance for joy!
I also see the master who created it.
Like a master of embroidery he sat at his loom painstakingly interweaving each unique strand, he knit us together, you and I,
Piece by piece with intention and precision.

We were created in secret,
And then revealed to the world.
We are special, unique, pure and whole.
Different as the Sun and the Moon
And yet we are one and the same, you and I.
We have the same Father.

Like a proud father does, he showed us, his treasures, to the world.
In their stupidity and perversion they rejected us.
They tore us apart.
I called you my sister,
They called you my enemy.
My Father says we are one in him,
The world says we are separate.

I say the world is blind if they can’t see who we are.
I know this because my Father tells me.
That is what I call the world.
Blind

I have a name for you too,
Sister, brother, father, mother
Will you accept my name?

So who are you?
My name is blessed what is yours?
