Lesson #1, Writing Assignment An angel, [4a] as a bolt from the blue, [4a] kissed Saint Francis of Assisi causing five wounds, [#1] and the pain was excruciating. Is something like his five wound stigmata necessary to be a saint? If so, [?]I will never be one, [#1] but the most perfect one whose charisma I love is the little, [3a] poor, [3a] man from Assisi. The wounds in his hands and side bled, [#1xa] so he and his Brothers needed to tend to them with bandages regularly. Francis' images are often seen with birds and animals, [#1] but this is misleading, [#1] as he was a miracle worker, [?] a friend to all, [?] and a great leader. Due to his loving ways, [#2] he has many followers. Franciscan is the name that thousands of his religious Priests, [?] Nuns, [?] and Brothers go by[1xb] however there is a secular order also. There are people who work day by day or have substance in other ways that may be professed as Secular Franciscans. There, [4a] also, [4a] are many people who have a devotion to him who join a variety of clubs in his name. Of course, [?] there are multitudes who have a Franciscan medal, [?] prayer card, [?] or maybe a statue with birds and animals. The saint, [#4a] without a doubt, [#4a] is more popular than nearly all celebrities that ever were. My affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church is that of being a professed member of the SFO, [?] Secular Franciscan Order. Some ask what we do. The answer to that is simple; we meet, [?] we pray, [?] we meditate, [?] we donate money to some of the needy, [?] we study the Bible [#?] and strive to live as the Gospel teaches. What I like the most is to read books about the little, [3a] poor, [3a] man from Assisi. My secrete wish is that other people learn about St. Francis [1xb] because I believe many would find his life and teachings interesting. Word Count: 339
