All I Can Do

Rays
brush my face
as they glance furtively
between purple clouds.
There is no warmth
from the weak, pale disk
that looks more like the moon.

I survey
the rumpled white blanket,
patched with sky blue,
that stretches endlessly
towards the horizon --
an eternity of open space
filled with unseen treasures:
grass pressed in patterns,
hibernating plants and animals,
invisible stars above.

I welcome to my mind
the stillness and emptiness
presented before me.
I am aware of all that I am,
all that I feel,
all that I see.
My heart is filled
will all encompassing love.
May there be happiness for all.
May there be an end to all suffering.
May there be healing for all the sick and infirm.
In the moment
this is all I can do.
